Survey; If you had a time machine

If you had a time machine what decade would you go back to?
I would choose the 70s

Cheers,

Wave

I'm afraid I would go back to the years 1981 and 82. And I'd relive them over and over again like in the movie "Groundhog Day". While they are not the years I am the proudest of...they were bar none the most fun;-)

    Tough one.....

Two ways to look at this at least....

Go to the 60's and buy a boat load of Polaroid and IBM stock..... hit the Microsoft and Apple launches.....

    come home....retire on dividends.

Or.... just go to the 70-'s and have a ball. Or maybe 1400 before Europeans came to the USA.

    decisions decisions...

Knowing me I'd just do the exact same thing all over.

Just finished reading Stephen King's "11/22/63" about the use of a portal taking the person back to the exact same time and place in 1958. But every time he returns (back to 1958) everything that was changed by the previous visit is reset.

Food for thought that fantasy/story was.

I'd go back to the early 1950's. Loved the music, loved the cars, loved America.

That's an easy one. The roaring 20's (pre depression). I got a thing for flapper girls, The music was great, the cars were incredible (gas was 5 cents a gallon), and you did not need a bazillion licenses and insurance to fly a plane.

It only goes back, eh?  Sounds like only half the machine it could be.  Imagine seeing Beethoven or Mozart live though - wow...

I would pop forward to to 2050 and see if the apes had risen yet. Oh, I also want my flying car and the home on the moon that was supposed to be available by now.

For some reason as our technology evolves our dreams seem to fade. I remember 1969 and Neil Armstrongs first moments on the moon. It seemed like nothing was impossible. Now everything seems impossible. I can't believe that a country like mine doesn't even make it's own shoes anymore.

I think I'd better pass on that time machine.

1974. I'd like to say I'd change that I did in response to a lot of things that happened from that time on but as I look at that scenario, the first different choice would have changed all the succeeding choices because they wouldn't have happened. So I really would of had no idea what was next after the first different choice.
You can't go back. Everthing that was, is now dirt. You can only go forward, in the way and time and speed that you can comprehend. Day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute.

    1986 for me.

I'd like to watch from a distance the things we all got up to and maybe, just maybe, fill in a few of the blanks in my memory, 'cos I reckon I must have blacked out for a large portion of that particular year.

Living the past once was enough for me. A lot of what happened was good and I like to remember it. The future would be interesting but I'll get there soon enough too. I think I'm already on a time machine only growing older while it happens.

If I'm going to be an old fart when I go back, then it would be useless to try and relive things with a bunch of young party animals.  So maybe I could leave a note to my younger self to NOT waste money of a trip I took and buy stock in Microsoft instead.

Or, if this time machine is only good for viewing the past then I'd go back to historic times to witness history in the making!  (And answer some of today's biggest questions - heh.)
