Susan Clatworthy, where art thou?

Don't take this wrong, been happily married for over 30 years. Even happier every since I learned that the cute little thing is right about everything. Avoids a lot of needless confrontation.

Sometimes though... I get a twinge about my first real girl friend, my first true love. Susan Clatworthy. Don't know where she is now. Never met her in person, but as a pen pal, she was a heart throb for a horny teenage male. Everything you could want in a perfumed letter sealed with hugs and kisses and an occasional pressed flower.

She was a Brit, me an American. We had 2 years of sensual love letters sailing across the ocean.

Then I blew it big time...

We had never exchanged pictures and she wanted a picture of me. At the same time we were coming into the July 4th celebration.

I sent her a picture of me and asked what she was doing for the big 4th of July celebration.

Never heard back after that. Would like to think it was all about the 4th of July comment to a Brit. Was never good at history.

Sorry Susan if you are still out there.

XOX,

John

Trying to save as much face as possible.
It HAD to be the 4th of July faux pas.
However, didn't have Photoshop at the time to remove the acne...

Fully convinced that Sue was madly in love with me. Photo of me had to have further driven her wild in her deepest dreams, even with the pimples...

Only thing that could have overcome hormones and genetics was the invitation to a July 4th party. Big lapse on my part.

What would be the response this day and age if I asked a Brit to get excited about July 4th and what the festivity plans are. Coming up soon on that most sacred of holidays. Americans are silent in devout prayer with Donald Trump in awe of the greatness of the coming 4th of July celebration.

How does it get any more holy than this. Susan, why did you abandon me...

That's so strange John.

I never met Susan Clathworthy in person either.

I did meet Jonbouy and SteveStrummerUK in person.

I should have asked if they knew Susan.

Well she had to be British with a name like Clatworthy. I guessing northern British. Manchester.

When I was 16 I clapped eyes on this girl, a friend of a friend, who was so uncommonly beautiful that I thought about her obsessively for the next 4 years, even though I didn't know how to get in contact and would probably choke even if I did. I think she was half Iranian or something, she had that olive skin, thick brown hair and striking big green eyes. When you're that age you have an almost mystical view of love which you'd probably describe as "complete bollocks" now. I was that smitten that I used to periodically look out of my bedroom window just on the off chance she was passing. How deluded is that? I bumped into her a few years later, she was with some dude, but I somehow managed to keep my cool and had a nice chat with her and even danced with her in a club later. The dude took a huff outside the club and stormed off and she ran after him. Ha! I still think about her every now and then, I have no aspersions or desires or any intentions whatsoever, I'm with someone fantastic now. I just get curious what she looks like and what she does, in much the same way that I get curious about a lot of people I haven't seen since back then.

In my late 20's I met another girl who I totally fell head over heels for - she was beautiful, looked a bit like Julie Andrews, was into math and music. Basically what I thought was my dream girl. Once again I was smitten. But at the time I was trapped in a relationship with someone I didn't want to be with but who was emotionally manipulating me (long story). The worst of it was, people were telling me that she was totally into me and talked about me the same way! By the time I got out of this relationship from hell, she was with some other guy. But funnily enough, I wasn't jealous at all, in fact I really got on with the guy. They're still together and have two kids now. Guess I missed out there, lol.

But then again, if I hadn't blown it with those other two girls, I might not be with the girl I'm with now, who is an absolute cutie pie and I don't think I've ever gotten along with or felt so comfortable with anyone else.

Long story short.

After my divorce I had a summer fling with a woman that I lusted after. We worked together and she even wrots and sang some songs with me at the beginning of that 20 year marriage.

After she broke up with me I was heartbroken for about 5 months.

Then I met The Lovely Lady that I've been with for 12 years now.

So my "Susan Clathworthy" can take a hike.

Yeah, and another thing I held on to at the time to not have my ego entirely crushed into the dirt.

Once I sent her my picture, it was Susan's turn to send me hers...

It was probably better that she didn't...

This is starting to make sense. I might even get some closure on it after all these years.

I respect the divinity in all girls, but in absence of photos, I told her in a letter that I pictured her as a tall slim goddess.

She was probably a 400 pound blimp.
