Suwal-Pyongwon (수월평원) - My graduation work.

http://soundcloud.com/acoustic_lov/umrogqafmuil

The title is Korean : 수월평원과 바다뱀 보급기지

"Suwal-Pyongwon" You can say this piece's name as it. I made this according to the pentatonic scale of Korean traditional musics. The notes of Korean traditional scale are given two propertieses each other. they are + and -(양 and 음). So, we have to consider them when we use Korean Traditional scale. thank you.

wow, this is kind of intense!

it feels a bit random, a bit noodle-y......

but i like the general feel of it as it goes along....

the korean scale is interesting, it is not to far removed from typical western 12 tone, and i hear some licks i'm going to steal!!

is this captured acoustically, or is this a synth/sampler?

It sounds really great to me.

I like the structure and the way the melodic motif seems to evolve and grow as you move through the cycles of the piece.

I especially like how you have combined the formalistic structure of modern Western style piano playing with the Korean scale and arrived at a fresh sounding composition.

I also enjoy the parts that are playing.. the left hand part sounds really confident.

    Thank You for sharing.

    best regards,
    mike

Really like it mate! Pretty intense as another has said but it doesn't sound too random to me, each section sounds well put together. I take it you are a student of Composition?

I remember when my dog ate my homework, but you have no excuse.  You just turn out some of the most interesting tunes around.  Now that I've heard several of your compositions, I can say that you are prolific and very talented.  No doubt that you will only get better as you get older.  Keep up the good work!

I actually enjoyed that quite a bit.  It never stays in one place for long.  And while the parts are quite different from each other there is a continuity between them. And I love the dissonance used as well.

    Quite nice.

I love this. The changes keep the listener engaged and listening. Obviously, your piano playing is top notch, but the composition is even more remarkable. I don't know many contemporary piano composers but this reminds me of Andre Mehmari: 'Lachrimae' is one of my favorite piano albums. http://rd.io/x/QV4BCSJZGoA You have a very bright future!

This is some very cool stuff!!  I really like the dynamics in the piece, the tempo changes, and the odd (to my ear) harmonies.

    Good luck!!

    Cheers!

wow what an awesome composition and performance.  I agree with others above, that you are headed for a very bright future.  I thoroughly enjoyed the variety and the changes to the rhythms that never kept us standing still.  Absolutely riveting performance.  Thank you so much for posting this, and best of luck in whatever transition you are soon headed for after graduation!

    This is fantastic!!  Just brilliant!

The section from about 0:50 to about 1:10 is reminiscent to me of works from King Crimson back in the day.
