Sweet Summer Sounds - mix advice

The song below has been recorded in SONAR X1 with the exception of the vocals.  I did this as a collaboration where the guitars tune was my work and then a guy from Helsinki did the vocal tune and lyrics.  The wonders of online collaboration!

So it is by Petter Korkman and the Circles of 3 (Just to clarify for copyright reasons!)

Anyway, I would like people to comment on the "Mix" and "Production" rather than anything else.  Not sure if i got it right...On one system I have the snare sounds too loud.  I mastered in Ozone.

There's much to like about this song.  The guitars are nicely recorded and panned well in the mix.  The vocal sounds clean and natural, and the arrangement works just right for this song.  Since you mentioned the snare, actually, I could barely hear it on my system.  It was there, but it didn't drive the song.  In fact, the entire drum kit could use a boost.  These are minor tweaks, but I think they would pay dividends.

    All the best,

What a charming song..that acoustic guitar is great, got a real classic Moody Blues feel to it and the electric solo is perfect. Nice vocal too, and the whole things hangs together really well. Liked that a lot.

Nice little tune, in the main the mix sounds reasonable here.  Though I did find there was little bass boom in some areas, this could just be unfortunately hitting a room node in my studio.

I can hear the Moodies in there, round In search of the Lost Chord time.

    Hi Wildman,
I like this one quite a bit...the mix has a bit of a retro sound, but I think that was probably a choice not an accident. I didn't notice the boom that Wookiee did, but I would think about dropping back the vox just a bit (tho really just a bit). When vox first comes in the volume difference between the vox and the rest of the music is a bit abrupt. I think your drums could come up some too, but it's really an aesthetic choice...if you want that kind of moody blues retro sound it's pretty close to just right, if you want to modernize a bit you probably want to punch things up a bit more.

Fun song. I would filter the bass just a tad to clear up some space and occasional boominess. I love the accent on the lead, but he sounds like he is holding back. That might be due to his straining to hit the note, which suggests he needs to practice and warm up properly or he is going to hurt himself .

    Hey Wildman,

Great song with excellent guitar tones and playing, and fantastic vocals!  You've also got a nice clean sounding, well panned mix.

    Cool song and great collab!
