SyncToy for Backing up Files

I have SyncToy set up to back-up Melodyne transfer files.  (The reason was that a PC issue required me to reinstall Melodyne at one time and all the transfer files were lost: Meldoyne could not find them when I opened a project.)
 
Lately, when I run SyncToy, I occasionally says that many files failed: example, 32 new, 24 failed.
 
Any ideas what this means and what is wrong?

    If a file is open or in use, SyncToy cannot make a backup copy like a real backup program such as Acronis can.
    I run SyncToy on my project directory after every session to make a backup onto an external drive, but only when Sonar is closed.

    Also any errors are listed for each failed file so you can see which files failed and why.
