Synch issues and jumbled tracks...
Here's my problem... My Windows XP machine died and I bought a new windows 7 PC. Installed Sonar 7 (can't afford an upgrade for a while now!), eventually got my Onyx400F firewire to work (in Vista compatibility mode) and loaded a track. When I played the track I was horrified to hear all of the tracks out of synch and also the audio tracks were jumbled around. A track saying bass was the vocal, the acoustic guitar track was the shaker, etc etc etc. I'm lost! And really down about it! Please help!

Maybe it's just the track names that have got mixed up? Or have the actual track events been moved, leaving the track structure (FX/Sends/Pan/MSR/Busses etc) untouched? If so you can just rename the tracks. Can't help with your sync issues though, sorry.

You might want to read this at Gear sluts, Seems there are issues with Mackie not supporting W7 drivers but some have got it working. There's also links to the Mackie forum worth reading. It is most likely a driver issue. Sounds like your Picture cash got corrupt during transfer. http://www.gearslutz.com/...nyx-400f-question.html

Thanks guys. It's the actual audio that's on the wrong specified track, not the other way around, but the timings are all jumbled up - they start at wrong tiimes relevant to one another, and not just a bit. Vocals start where the guitar should etc etc... Doing my head in!

Well, I might not be reading into this correctly, but with audiosnap turned on and set to musical time, can't you drag the audio to their respective tracks? As long as you don't move left or right everything should then sync up, no? I'm thinking if the audio is in it's original timeline positions but just ina different track, it might hopefully be just a matter of dragging them back to the right tracks without moving them L/R of their current positions... I don't know... I've just confused myself, lol. Or! giving thought again to timeline position, experiment carefully with moving the tracks back. For instance the vocal might be in the bass track in either it's original time position or the vocal might be in the bass tracks original time position. So, try just two at a time and solo them to see if and when they sync up... just a thought. The other thing I was wondering is if there's miscommunication between Sonar and your audio driver and the correct in/out order is jumbled? Weird at any rate and beyond my capabilities to grasp at the moment.

Reading your posts again please clarify- What do you mean by loading a "track" Are you not opening a CWP files? A track is a mono or stereo audio file or a MIDI part. Are you just importing tracks into a project? A project or song is a CWP file that manages things like keeping tracks/ soft synths/ plug ins and names sorted and synced up. To move your pojects from one computer to the other you can just drag and drop the whole Cakewalk Projects folder, if that's were the songs were, to a USB drive and drop it all in you new machine. There's no reason for them not to open exactly as they were on the old machine , minus stray plug ins that is.

Gus, I've solved the issue... On my previous machine I was running CWB files from a remote drive, but on this machine it seems that I have to copy the entire folder to the drive on my machine, and it all opens up perfectly. Cactus gave me the clue... so thank you. Now I can get on with the fun part! Thanks again!!

Yes Bundle files are known not to work so well.
