Synchronisation of MIDI tracks

I know this is an old problem, but as I only tend to use Sonar once or twice a year for a few days, I keep forgetting how it works! I've laid down 3 MIDI tracks using my controller keyboard, and listened to the metronome whilst recording. It all sounds a bit out of sync, and certainly not as good as it sounded while recording. Have I forgotten to set something in Sonar, or is it just that my keyboard playing is so rusty it's not properly in time? (It's drums, bass, strings and rhodes on the tracks so far).

At least on S4 there is a tick adjustment on every midi track, backwords or forwards in time.

I use it sometimes when using high latency softsynths for GM sounds in computer. Just shift -5->-15 ticks in time and those tracks line up with the rest of audio stuff.

I'm not a very good keyboard player, so I quantize everything.

The best is always yet to come. Now...shut up and make some noise!

There may be problems with the accuracy of Sonar's metronome. See here
