Synth Question: (DimPro, Rapture, et al.)

Hey everyone,

I'm using X1Producer Ext "D". I'm realitively new to music production, but with all the great videos and wealth of knowledge here I'm starting to get the hang of this. (I'm a guitar/bass/drums player with a Praise Band at my church). Anyway

Question and I'm assuming this would/could apply for any soft synth with more than one voice (sound).
Say Rapture:
Can I lay down (record) a track using one of the loaded sounds (say  Leads> Godan ) then use the Layers to duplicate the take yet use a different sound (say Leads > Moog Pedal Lead) all within the same track?

-OR-  do I treat these soft synths as one instrument and create a whole new track, using Rapture again but this time using a different sound?

In other words do some of you guys have many tracks of, say: Rapture again, yet each have a different voice....??

I want to use the same chord sequence over and over.. just put different voice (sounds) to them.

Hope I make sense.

Thanks in advance.

Inserting another instance of the synth set to a different sound is the only way I know how to do it.
