Synth drums or drum loops?

This may belong under a different category, but it will get the most views and replies here and this is a good place to start.
 
I have Superior and EX Drummer, and naturally what comes with X1. But I've started going through literally thousands of drums loops that I bought a few years ago (on CD's), which includes Drums on Demand, Beta Monkey, RAW, and other loops. One you put a little eq and reverb on them they sound very good.
 
I'd like to get some opinions, pro and con, about midi drums compared to regular drum loops. I know midi is much easier to edit, so I'm mostly referring to sound quality. Some of these loops are very good and I'm starting to re-think my preference on loops vs midi drums.

    Wll First as far as I have learned the MIDI Drums have  Zero Sound Quality just basically info on what shoudl be played so as far as that goes you could have a Piano Synth as the MIDI out and you would not get Drum sound at all.
    You mention you have Superior Drummer, EZ Drummer etc. I have found that with the SDX's and the EZX's the drum Sound Quality is so close to real drums it is hard to tell them apart, Plus you have so much more control over the sound then you could possibly have using a Drum loops I would say that using MIDI is far superior.

    neither "easier" or "sound quality" is a determining factor to me as long as the right feel is there to me. "Feel" is what I'm after and midi usually is second to loops as far as feel goes generally speaking. That said, I use both. Actually, it's probably not an either or kind of thing. Sometimes one will work better than the other. I guess it depends on how good you are writing/editing midi drums and how long you want to spend looking for and editing drum loops:)

    Yes, I know, but sometimes we have to edit and then add eq and reverb for to get the sounds and feel we want. I use both too. Some people have a good way with synth drums  and drum loops and can put them together incredibly fast. It's not my strong point, and every time I fiddle with these things I find myself wanting a live drum track, played by a real drummer. 

    One that that is perplexing right now is that all my old loops work in X1 except Drums on Demand. They sound find in the preview but almost every time they will have static or pops when I put them in the track. The other loops I use don't do that. What's up with Drums on Demand and X1?
