SynthmasterCM crashes X3b [SOLVED]

I don't suppose everybody has the above freebie synth from Computer Magazine but anyhoo....
When it came out it didn't work at all with Sonar but it appeared to be ok elsewhere. There was an update that made it work a bit in X2 but it regularly crashed Sonar so I stopped using it.
When I installed X3a one of the first things I did was load up this synth and checked if Sonar could handle it. It did.
Today I tried it again in X3b and it crashes Sonar almost straight away.

The second crash generated CWBRN-20237 so I have reported it (as I should) but I'm a little worried that it didn't crash X3a but now it's back to it's normal behaviour(!!!).

The reason I am posting is a plea to anyone else with this synth to try it out and see if it works - or is it just me?

Grum.

The vendor commented on another forum regarding this issue:

"Presets that have distortion turned on crash the host on x64. 32bit works fine. This was one of those bugs I couldnt figure out. Is probably related to compiler settings"

Much love to you sir .
So it would appear it was blind luck with X3a!

Thanks for your prompt reply...

Maybe bridging the 32bit version would work better. The full 64bit version does not crash SONAR X2a 64bit.

I installed the 32 bit version and deleted the 64 so it now works. The only downside is how 32 bit plugins sit in the Sonar environment (undockable etc) but at least it isn't crashing the pants out of Sonar .

Thanks again.

In case you did not know, you CAN dock a 32bit VST header. Hold the SHIFT key when opening the plug-in UI. This will open both the plug-in UI and the plug-in header. Usually the header is behind the plug-in UI. The header contains all the normal VST menu functions and a button to open the plug-in UI.

You're just a mine of useful information for me today  - I've never come across this before and it may well make my Sonar experience a better one.
Thanks again....again

You are welcome. Now that CW owns the BitBridge code maybe they will be able to make the use of 32bit plug-ins a little more seamless.

Well at least they still support them - not everyone does.
I tried out what you said, it isn't intuitive but it does work. I wonder if anyone knows all of the shortcuts and cleverness that Sonar has in its bowels?

I did find out something by myself today though - the little triangles that point to the right in Addictive Drums can be clicked on and they open up a bunch more midi patterns. Probably common knowledge but I had a little shiver of excitement .
