One cup of coffee down...

Sounds good!  The tone is a nice cross between clean and "brown".    And the parts you're playing must be easy 'cause it sure looks effortless.

I've always liked the kind of tone that is clean when you lay back and gets kinda gritty when you lean on it a bit.

I've never been a picker that tried to make things look or be harder than they should be. The path of least resistance tends to work well for me.  Once I got it all worked out, it was in fact pretty easy to play and it becomes a Zen thing where not too much actual thought needs to go into it. It's coming from inside the soul. it took me a few days of playing around and trying things to get the entire song together. The decisions ... do I play this or should I play that here and what about the next phrase? and the one after that?  What would Vince do? ..... but that's the fun part of any song whether it's a cover like this or an original...

BTW:  After I had put my parts together and recorded them in this video, I got curious to see what the original sounded like with Gill playing. So I looked it up and was pleasantly surprised to hear that my overall feel and approach is similar but obviously not identical.

Thanks for listening and watching

Gus, thanks for taking the time to watch. If you read back through the responses, I describe how that tone was achieved. Mesa boogie, Joyo UD pedal, and the humbucker on the Tele got it going on.

Herb, I would never want to follow you on stage.  You make it look too easy until I try to play like that.  You blended in with that mix very well.  Congratulations on a terrific recording and video.

All the best,
Lynn
