TH2 and X3 "Graphic Glitch?"
When I have TH2 inserted as an Audio FX (in the bin) and I have audio going I move the UI around in THD and it glitches, crackles, pops. Anyone else getting this? Just asking a quick question.

Yes I see this too. It was also the case in X2 for me. I have an older DAW however -far from state of the art. I use Guitar Rig 5 without any issue so I haven't really made much use of THD. I also agree with your assessment that it seems to be GUI related. I have a replacement video card I have been meaning to pop in. What are you using for a video card, and how much ram does it have?

It's not a bad video card I have, it's a Radeon 5450 1gb. Everything is also fairly new. At least just bought it and put it together at the beginning of 2012. Just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them.

You mean TH2? If so I don't get audio glitches but definitely graphical weirdness which if I lowered my buffers or had a less powerful system I could see manifesting themselves audibly.

Yes TH2!
I won't say I have a super system, but it's by no means a slouch. I want to do some more testing to see if u get the same results with a new/clean project.
While I am running the audio on this project the CPU first core is about 20% and the other 7 are at 5-10%. Buffers @ 256. ASIO. Specs in sig. So it doesn't appear to be taxing the system.
This is also a project I started in X1 and had trouble opening this same project in X2. In X2 when I opened this project, it couldn't find GPO or True Pianos. But with X3 it was able to open and tell me it couldn't find the plugs but did find the 64bit versions and offered to put them in place. Sweet!
This is a project that I just want to adjust some levels and such. Nothing show stopping for sure.

Sorry, Grem. I didn't mean to imply you had an underpowered system. Your CPU is the same as mine and I've got 16GB RAM as opposed to 8 is more than enough. TH2 is supposed to be a low resource effect (compared to stuff like GR). A poor graphics card or set up MAY be the culprit but I'm running a $20 Gigabyte special (but it does have a GB of video RAM which is supposedly a good thing) and do not get the audio problems you are but still might be worth looking to see if maybe there is a driver update for your vid card. However you said it... try it out on a clean project. I'm just guessing but it sounds like the project might have gotten a little corrupted during its travels through the multiple Sonar versions. 256 though is kind of low IMO if you are just mixing/tweaking and experience audio glitches... even if the CPU/RAM meters aren't maxing out. I don't think I've managed to get my CPU pushing 20% on the first core yet except when I was being a real jerk to my system. It's probably a combination of little issues with the project that are adding up to annoyances. When I was still on X1 I had the exact same problem with adjust pretty much ANY parameters during playback (which is extremely annoying while trying to mix) and turning up my buffers pretty much always helped. Those problems went away with X2. Another thing... what speed are your drives spinning at? 7200RPM is recommended. 10,000 is better... SSD is betterer (at least for the program drive). Cheers.

No beeps, I didn't want to come across as sounding like I was upset or offended! I really appreciate your time and responses.
HD are all 7200rpm. No SS yet. Thinking about it hard though! Price just ain't there yet.
When I get home will look into this more. Thanks again for your responses.😊

Cool. I personally don't think SSDs are worth the cost because a fast HDD is enough for what we do and I get concerned about their failure rates but they've become more reliable in recent years from what I've read. I just don't trust hardware tech until it's been around for a little while I guess. I'm also not sure what or if anything can be done to recover data from a failed SSD. I should probably look into that. Anyway, hope you get it figured out. Doesn't sound like a major problem anyway. I'm not sure if the TH2 interface obeys screensets but perhaps you could see if you can set up some screensets to get you to the areas of TH2 you need to tweak during playback. A couple other things you could try is mapping the pertinent controls to the knob slots at the bottom of the TH2 GUI or even create an FX Chain module with the relevant parameters so you don't even have to use the TH2 interface at all. Just some ideas if it becomes a real problem. Cheers.

FX chain module is a great idea! Thanks.
As for the SSD's they have come a long way in the last two years. Failure rate isn't much of a concern too much now. Especially if you back up. (You do that don't you? Doesn't everybody?)
I am thinking about getting two SSD's of about 256gb capacity and hook em up in Raid for a total of 500gb for a system drive. I hear it just makes everything more snappy.
I've got a 2tb USB3 backup drive and just got a 2tb Green drive (5400rpm) for back UPS also. So I can clone the SSD system drive and not worry. But that's still a little while away.

Cool. My stream of consciousness rant farted out something useful. ;-p Yeah, I want to get a third drive but I still think I'm going to stick with solid state personally. Maybe 10,000 RPM and I'll shuffle everything around to turn that into my system drive and then my two 7200rpms get relegated to project/audio and streaming/storage. I intend to do other stuff with this system so I'd rather have some capacity on the C drive if I need it and frankly the price per GB of SSDs make me cringe. I'd love to set up a RAID too and my case is designed for that but I am not nearly smart enough yet to set something like that up and I don't have enough drives anyway. As far as backup I've got a WD 1TB USB3 external I picked up just for that but I've already jammed it with a bunch of images from my various systems so I need to clean it up and buy another one. Cloud storage kind of doesn't really appeal to me because again I do not trust it for various reasons and considering the amount of stuff that would be floating back and forth I'm pretty sure I'd break my bandwidth limits and start getting charged ridiculous usage fees (thanks CRTC). Also even on broadband those types of transfers take far too long.
