TH2 full version upgrade in Cake store for $99

I haven't seen this mentioned yet and I know quite a few people have been curious about this upgrade. This is the same deal I got shortly after I bought X2 and it doesn't come on special for this price very often. Just thought I would draw some attention to it in case people haven't been checking the store. With your $20 coupon you can get it for $79 which really is a sick deal. It has just come to my attention that the holiday bonus will not work for the upgrade. Still $99 is the lowest price I've seen it going for.

I do not work for Cake, Overloud or anybody. I just find this plug invaluable for my guitar work and you get a ridiculous amount of extra stuff with this upgrade that covers all styles.

I hope you all are having a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Cheers.

I do not believe the HOLIDAY20 code can be used on the TH2 upgrade. At least it did not work for me (maybe because I already own it but I doubt the store is that smart). The HOLIDAY20 code is not a store-wide discount voucher. The code may only be used on selected items.

I do not think the coupon applies. Here is the list of qualifying products.

But... if I whine and cry enough can we get it???

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

The $20 is only for products that Cakewalk has the exclusive rights to distribute.

I like especially the higher gain ones a lot better than Guitar Rig 5, so far.

disclaimer: I'm a hobby level guitarist with only one guitar (Blade RH2) and would never put myself on stage with one.

The response is far better I find. With GR5 I was having to kind of play differently or alter parts to accommodate the sim. It's still a very nice program but I rarely touch it anymore. The cab section of TH2 is light years ahead of GR as well and makes a massive difference (now that I know how to use it properly).

I saw that you can load impulses, I suppose that's similar to impulse reverbs, but simulating cabs instead? Do you have any recommendations or are there free ones to try out?

If you want to go the IR route, there are hundreds of free cab IRs on the net or for fee there is RedWirez

I haven't really tried out IR type stuff yet. I'm not sure but I think the Overloud site has some resources for that type of thing.

As I have always said, the full version of TH2 is worth every penny! The Brunetti amps in there are staggeringly great!

Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!

At first I wasn't quite sure what to make of those but due to your reviews I took another look at them and yes... they do seem to be the superior models. I've actually been using them on clean settings and using the stomp boxes and other stuff to get my high gain sounds... kind of like I used to live. Onboard distortion has never really gotten me where I wanted so when I was looking for amps I would get ones that had the best clean tone and let my pedals do the screeching. The best setups I had came from Hi Watts (when I had access to them) or, believe it or not, a specific model cheap Yorkville bass amps (400b with the 10 band EQ). Before that I'd actually use old Traynor tube bass amps because they were cheap and plentiful (but are now considered "boutique" items) that I'd scab from various buddies or pawn shops for cheap. The tubes would always gack out from the abuse though and I couldn't afford to replace them so I started leaning more toward transistor stuff.

But that was all ultra searing metal. Now that I'm more varied (and still broke) having something like TH2 to screw around with is extremely cool. Everything else I've ever done before in my home studios has ended up being my stompboxes through my Line 6 because sims just weren't cutting it. GR5 was close but still a pain and I was never truly happy with it. I'm just scratching the surface with TH2 and I've already got multiple metal tones, some blues and jazz tones, classic rock and some other weird stuff. Usually dialed in within a couple minutes of screwing around. Awesome stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion, Scook. They seem to be very fairly priced considering the meticulousness of their work. Any opinion on them?

They are well thought of but I do not use IR for much these days. I believe RedWirez was involved with supplying the IRs used in Guitar Rig 5 Control Room Pro. IIRC, Overloud's IR offering originally had some relationship with Recabinet.

Hi, Beepster! I mainly play Robben Ford and Larry Carlton-ish jazz and blues gigs and my session work leans more to the classic rock and country niche. Hard to stay away from country when you're in the heart of Georgia! LOL!
The Brunettis fill that order pretty much everytime. I haven't tried any metal type projects but from what I'm hearing I can tell there is probably some really good aggressive tones to be had with the included Randall. I tried the Lynchbox and was really impressed with it. And, of course, the THD is bad to the bone for blues.
I would like to hear a comparison project between TH2 and Amp3 and GR. It would be very interesting to say the least. Still saving my nickels and dimes for Scuffham.
