TL-64
Hello, is anywhere a good tutorial or a documentation of this plugin? In sonars helpfile is not so much information about all adjust options. The helpfile refer to a online documentation wich i can't find. Best, Tomas

When the Cakewalk help file refers to online help, it means a separate help file on your PC. In the case of the TL-64, the default location for the 64bit versions help file path is "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Tube Leveler\TL-64_Tube_Leveler.chm"

Click the TL-64 UI and the F1 key should bring up the help.

@scook - yeah, I tried that first, but it didn't come up. I later went back, and figured out why help didn't pop up when I hit F1. I had clicked on the Title Bar (the top of the UI window), and had not clicked INSIDE the window itself - and after I went back in and clicked somewhere within the UI window, rather than at the top in the title bar, help promptly showed up. I am a little disappointed that nobody can seem to find the online help for these included effects without actually loading an instance of the effect. The documentation section on all of the included effects clearly indicates that one can look for online help for each effect, but a search of the index returns ZERO results for it. I would much rather read up on the use and control of an effect PRIOR to loading it into the project and hitting F1 from within the effect's UI, and I would have thought this information would have been available in the main documentation somewhere. In any case - YES by all means use the F1 key within the UI window to read up on controlling the TL-64 Tube Leveler, and any other effect you are interested in. Bob Bone

Yes, it does take actually clicking the UI not just having the window in focus. The other thing is that the documentation probably should be rewritten to take into account a hard copy is no longer furnished. At the time of the hard copy doc, the meaning of "online" was clear; that is no longer the case. The use of "online" has caused more than one poster to search the internet for help files that are just separate files on the PC.

The sonar power books are what the manual should be.

Yeah, but clicking on the books doesn't work for me either. :) They really are good books. Bob Bone

Not sure about anyone else, but when using plugins like these I really cannot hear much of a difference if any - and my hearing is still fine and I am using high quality cans...I constantly load these audio plugins and A/B turning them on and off, but really, I don't hear anything...even coming back to a track the next day.. Are they really worth all the effort? Or am I missing something here?

Quite likely. I can easily drive the TL64 into distortion which is VERY audible Just check your routing, you must be missing something.

Thanks BJ, but I KNOW I can get that result I am talking about using these in less than extreme settings - I do that, but I hear no difference to the sound. As I wrote, even coming back to the tune after a break. Which is why I really don't bother adding them in the first place. Just complicates the mix for me anyway. And they are routed correctly. Anyhoo, not a biggie, just curious is all

scook When the Cakewalk help file refers to online help, it means a separate help file on your PC. In the case of the TL-64, the default location for the 64bit versions help file path is "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Tube Leveler\TL-64_Tube_Leveler.chm"
Here's a quick trick to enable quick access to sonar's helpfiles, inside or outside Sonar : 1. Create a folder somewhere and call it something like Cakewalk Help Files. 2. Point Windows Explorer to your Cakewalk root directory 3. In Explorer's search box type in *.chm 4. Hit Ctrl-A to select all the results 5. Ctrl-Shift drag them all into the folder you created in Step 1. 6. Your folder will now contain shortcuts to all Sonar's help files. 7. You can then create a TaskBar toolbar that points to this directory and you'll have quick access to your help files at any moment 8. You can organize your shortcuts into some nested folders and the toolbar will automatically reflect this 9. I've added shortcuts to all my manuals (.doc and .pdf, like the X2 Reference Guide) as well in this toolbar.
