TRACK VIEW SHOWS MONITOR OUTS?

Hello. When I'm in the track view and I click on the track strip to the left/right it shows me my scarlett 18i20 monitor outs. Hope I'm saying this clearly enough. Normally, let's say you select a snare track and that snare is going to the master bus, so to the left or right, depending on what side your channel strip is on you'll see the snare track and the master its linked to. When I click anywhere on the snare channel strip it change view from the master inside sonar and shows me the scarlett Mon. 1/2 outs.

I don't recall this happening before the last update. Can someone confirm this as normal behavior? Thanks

If you're referring to the track inspector then it shows 2 channels,  the channel you're working on (snare in this case) and the channel it is route to...

If it's showing your hardware outputs, instead of the Master bus, then that is where you have the track routed to.

Thanks Karyn but that's just it. I don't have the track in question routed directly to the hardware outputs. Its routed to the master and the master goes to the hardware outs. When I click on the prochannel the correct track comes back. It seems to bypass the master and go to the hardware outs. I don't need to see that.

When I select the track in the track view it displays the proper routing. Let's say kick to drum bus. But when I click on the kick that's next to the drum bus the drum bus disappears and the hardware outs replace where the drum bus was. I'm terrible at explaining. Sorry.

This was not the case in before the last renewal I believe. Thanks

I can get something similar to this using an aux track.

Say the track in question "track X" is routed to Master bus.  The Inspector (Track tab) shows track X on the left and Master bus on the right.  Any changes in Track View to the track X's output are reflected propertly on the right-hand side of the Inspector.

Now, I route the output of track X to a new aux track "Aux 1" which outputs to hardware by default.   Selecting Aux 1 in Track View causes the Inspector to show Aux 1 on the left and hardware output on the right.  I then change the output of Aux 1 to Master bus and that is reflected in the Inspector.  Selecting again track X, the Inspector is still correct with X on the left and Aux 1 on the right.

If I then change the output of track X to Master, the Inspector shows the change, but if I change the output of track X again back to Aux 1, the Inspector shows (still) track X on the left, but hardware output on the right and not Aux1 which it should be.

So Sonar is (visually) saying that track X's output is routed directly to hardware output when it's not.

As jeff says, clicking the "ProCh" tab in the Inspector and then the "Track" tab fixes the right-hand side of the Inpector to properly show the Aux 1 track to which the output of track X is actually routed.

Thanks Paul. That's very similar to my experience. Clicking the track in the inspector by-pass the master and buss and shows the hardware outputs. Only mine happens on all tracks. Select track 1 in the track view it shows track 1 routed to master, good so far, click the same track in the inspector and the master disappears and the hardware outs show. Which all tracks end up anyway except maybe a click track.

I also get this behaviour when I click on the track (X in my text above) in the Inspector.  But this only happens with track X which outputs to Aux 1.  Clicking in the Inspector on any of the other three audio tracks in my project (which don't go to aux tracks), does nothing.  Clicking on track X causes the right-hand side to immediately switch to hardware output, replacing Aux 1 which was correctly displayed there.

Strange that you get this with all tracks (and no aux tracks ?).

I'm on Manchester, not the latest update, if that matters.

I'm up to date so maybe that's the difference. Either way, I don't believe this is normal. Usually the only way hardware outs show up is when I select the master bus because that IS where they are routed. Can't confirm the aux track but I believe ALL of my tracks work that way.

Is not a big deal its just annoying because I still need to see the "correct" track that its routed to. Thanks for your input Paul and Kayrn.
