TRacks Stealth Limiter says it's $125 but it's actually $135

I have 60 gear credits so I need 65 more to buy the Stealth Limiter but since they only sell gear credots in increments of 25 I have to pay $135 to get it.  Is it me or is that a ripoff?

Why do you say you have to pay $135?  You can get the 75-credit pack for $75, less any Jam Points you redeem (up to $22.50).  Credits are their own currency, and not directly translatable to real-world money.  Their value is dependent on a number of factors, so it's not entirely correct to assume that your existing balance is worth $60.

Now, if you started with nothing, and wanted to buy the Stealth Limiter for 125 credits, you could get the 75-pack plus the 50-pack for a total of $125, which equals the cash price.  So in that case, it really is $125 whether you use cash or credits.  But wait, there's more!  If you do use credits, with the current promo you'd have some credits left over for future purchases -- which is the whole idea behind credits (and Jam Points):  having "money" in your account makes you more likely to buy additional stuff.  And that's also why you can't buy exactly however many credits you need at any time -- you're more likely to have some left over after buying one or more of the available packs.  It's part of the IK Way!

Cheers,
Eddie

You just always have a few credits balance. I never pay full price for them anyway. Having a balance of credits I bought on sale has been a good thing.

Re: TRacks Stealth Limiter says it's $125 but it's actually $135 2015/09/12 11:45:37 (permalink)
I had 35 credits left over (from a sale price) I bought 100 (using jam points, on sale so I got 120) for $80. That got me the Stealth for a cash outlay of $80.

The way I look at (like others have said) the extra credits laying around are like finding that $20 bill in your jacket. Ya, it's yours but it feels like free money.

And in my above case, I feel I got Stealth for $80.

Same thing happened when A4 was announced. I had a 30 credits left, IK gave me $20 in "loyalty" jam points and I had $13. So that was $33 of which I applied $22 to a 75 credit purchase (on sale that gave me 87). So now I had 117 credits for a cash outlay of $53. A4 for $53 ain't half bad.

So after all is said and done I have $34 in jam points today. If I bought 100 gear credits today (since the sale is still on and I'd get 120) I'd have 137 in gear credits for a cash outlay of $69.

Or even better deal. If I buy 150 credits (and actually get 188) for ~$101 (using my $34 in jam points) and I'd have 205 in credits.

Pulled the trigger on 150 credits for $100.99. The sale gave me 188. Now I have 205 in my coat pocket to find in the future.

So NOW I'm pi$$ed again.
I'm trying to get the Stealth Limiter up and running in the studio WITHOUT bringing the computer in to run Custom Shop.
Where is my Serial # so I can use Authorization Manager, I have the Auth file.
Get your $hite together IK, link my Store account and my Custom shop for Kris sake!!
And please stop asking me to install SampleTank3 on my x86 computer; it does not work!

You know Valium is normally required when dealing with IK - from understanding their labyrinthine marketing strategy to installation issues  - did you not take yours before embarking on this?

You can either run Custom Shop "Restore My Gear" if you are online, or use the offline authorization method we cover in this FAQ:  http://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/3536   Serial numbers for any purchases made in the online shop are in your IK User Area --> My Products and are also delivered via email (and on the confirmation page of your purchase).

Neither seems very labyrinthine or difficult (nor requiring any medication), so there is likely just an issue that a specific user is having.  If the above FAQ or my post don't help, we also have a staff that is there to help troubleshoot issues outside of the normal user experience and they can be reached at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/mi/

"Tom, You know Valium is normally required when dealing with IK"
Thanks for that, I needed some levity!
"Serial numbers for any purchases made in the online shop are in your IK User Area"
As to my serial # for the Stealth Limiter, it is nowhere to be found in my "User Area".
Nor is it available from the Custom Shop, where I purchased it.
If it were that "easy" I would not have ranted on as I did.
Also, as the "purchase" was made in the Custom Shop I ONLY have a receipt for the Gear Credits
that I used to purchase the Stealth Limiter.
***I hope I have made my predicament crystal clear.***
Am I being lazy, maybe.
I'll bring the studio rig in when Amp4 becomes available; do some Windows housekeeping, etc.
Melda nor Fab Filter required me to connect to the internet. Sonar updates just fine without issue.
Do you sense a "theme" here?
I really am trying NOT to be combative; I love your gear.
But the fact that my store account and Custom Shop are not "linked"; don't like that so much...

Thank you,
T

Nigel

I'm not wasting good meds on IK. Back when I was just restarting my musical obsession, I bought (don't laugh) Band-In-A-Box. Not only was that a waste of good money, but the IK stuff that got installed along with it was worse than a virus. Just like Cyberlink. I had their top-of-the-line subscription suite, and all I got, every stinking time I ran on of the programs in the suite, was pop-up upgrade notices. To what?

Solution?

Uninstall. Cyberlink be gone. IK Multimedia be gone. I'm trying to work. STOP advertising to me through apps I've PAID for. I don't care how good their product are, or aren't. I don't know how any of you can stand dealing with them. Screw the points and the credits and the smoke and the mirrors. I've uninstalled all of my Slate Digital plugs as well; never could get the iLok to work reliably and Slate refuse to allow licensing to the PC, only to the iLok dongle.

Do none of these companies want my business?

Customer service nowadays is just bending you over the hood of a car. Good customer service lets you pick the brand of car. Great customer service just uses a Mercedes.

wow!  I just don't get all the hate!  Sure I was confused at first about the serial #'s and such awhile ago during the group buy... but it is totally easy... I tried the demo, which I had to have the custom shop open to use... loved Stealth, went and bought a bucket of bucks, clicked the button to buy Stealth with my bucket of bucks, and everything was automatic.  I don't have to have custom shop open... it was the easiest transaction I've ever made... no emails, no serial #... no authorization...I just clicked "buy", reloaded sonar, it scanned and found the plug... and it just works.

And works awesomely!

Dana, Peter, et al,
I sincerely hope that my posts are NOT hateful.
I AM a little frustrated (evidently I am NOT alone), and have let that show a bit (too?) much.
As you point out the Custom Shop works just fine WHEN the computer is connected to the internet.
"Restore My Gear" is excellent. Stealth is up and running on my office rig: No Problemo!
BUT, my studio rig is rarely connected.
I think the easy answer here is "Items purchased in the Custom Shop MUST be authorized in the Custom Shop".
If I KNOW the rules, I can PLAY the game; and that's fine!
Just be ***CLEAR*** as to the rules.
Now I KNOW the rules.
Peter and bapu did get me straightened out on how to use my Jam Points in the CS.
And for that I am grateful.
nuff said...

Don't forget that "Purchases made inside of the Custom Shop using Gear Credits are not transferable to another user or account." (http://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1111)
Edit: so if you want to use JamPoints and you need your purchase to be transferable later, buy at IK's online store.

But "gear credits" are not useable in the Store; right?
I think we all jumped on the discounted credits.
You pays your money, and you takes your choice.
Maybe the discount isn't worth it; I'll have to ponder that...

Since they're Italian, they could use Berlusconi or Beppe Grillo as mascots.
