T-Racks3 using 64 bit SONAR PE. Anyone have this working? - Solved

I can't seem to get T-Tracks3 to work at all in 64 bit SONAR.

I get a "VPA PlugIn Rejected by VPA Host" error message yet IK Multimedia's website says,

"Does T-RackS 3 support 64 bit systems?

T-Racks 3 can be installed on a 64-bit system but as a 32-bit plugin and not taking advantage of any of the 64-bit processing. Through the user of various wrappers inside of popular DAWs (such as Cakewalk, Cubase, Logic), the software can be run successfully on a 64-bit OS.

FAQ ID: 1969"

Anyone have a solution?

Don't have a solution but all my T-rack singles work fine in Win7x64 using BitBridge.
Do you have the vst's installed in a x86 vst folder?

I do have them in the x86 vst folder.

I had them in the 64 bit folder but I zapped them since they wouldn't load and I copied them there in the first place.

EDIT: I tried scanning the 32 bit vst folder from within 64 bit SONAR and got the same message.

Do you mean you just copied the dll's from the x64 folder & pasted them into the x86 folder? If so that may be the problem- perhaps something in the registry?

No, sorry. they installed in the x86 folder. I tried scanning that folder from within 64 bit SONAR and got that error so for grins I copied them to the 64 bit folder. That didn't work so I zapped the copies.

How are your's set? Are they ONLY in the x86 folder?

Yes, they were installed into the x86 folder only.

Are you scanning all 32 bit vsts from 64 bit SONAR?

Yes. It could be you need to re-install the plugs. As I remember IK authorizations can be tricky if none done correctly.

I just encountered this message, too, after having installed the latest T-RackS Deluxe 3.1.2 update.  The earlier 3.1 version had been working just fine in SONAR 8.5.3 x64.  I tried the plug-ins in a 32-bit version of Ableton Live lite, too, and they get the same error message there.  I assume it has to be some problem with the 3.1.2 update or its installation on my system.  I haven't figured out a solution/workaround yet.  Searching on-line for the error message is what found this thread.

I have Windows 7 64 bit, and Sonar 8.5.3 64 bit... I have T-Racks 3 Deluxe and it works fine for me, the only problems I have had have been related to audio interface drivers.... my Tascam US 2000 drivers SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! (I can't emphasize that enough) My Cakewalk (by Roland) V-Studio 100 drivers are awesome on the other hand.

I might add that I also just tried the standalone version of T-RackS 3 Deluxe, and it is also failing with the same error message after the 3.1.2 update.  I sent a support inquiry to IK, so hopefully they'll have some helpful information on how to resolve it.  I guess at worst case, I could deinstall and reinstall the 3.1 version to get the plug-ins working again as I use a few of them pretty frequently.

Haven't heard back from IK Support yet, but I solved the problem on my computer.  Specifically, after going back to a system restore point prior to the installation of the 3.1.2 update, and finding T-RackS still didn't work and gave the same error message, I totally deinstalled T-RacKS 3.  After doing that, I installed the 3.1.2 version as new software.  I had to reauthorize it, but I could use my same authorization information as from my previous installation, and it worked fine after that.

Two possible theories on what went wrong the first time:

        1) Maybe the update logic in the installation program isn't working properly, be it in general or in light of some Win7 and/or x64 thing.

        2) The first time I installed the software, I just ran the installation program from my account, which is the only account on the system and which has administrator privileges.  I have found that is not enough for some software installations, and they want to have "Run as Administrator" (i.e. right click on the executable file and pick "Run as Administrator" from the popup menu) used to run them, so I figured I try that, too, just in case it was needed here since I really didn't want to spend time troubleshooting, just get the software working.

Bottom line is it works now in all three environments where I tried it (i.e. standalone T-RackS, 32-bit Live Lite, 64-bit SONAR under BitBridge).  This was obviously an IK issue, not a SONAR issue, since even the standalone version didn't work properly.  Whether it was x64- or Win7-specific or not, I cannot say.  In general, though, Win7 x64 with SONAR x64 rocks.  It's way snappier than Win XP (32-bit) was on my my system.

After updating my support ticket with IK to let them know how I'd resolved it, they replied that the installation does have to be run as administrator.  While my normal account does have administrator privileges, I'm guessing this means you literally do have to use the Run As Administrator facility when doing this particular installation.  Thus, maybe the update would have worked had I done that with Run As Administrator.  I'm guessing this applies to both Vista and Win7, and not just to x64 versions of those.

I heard from support this morning.

The suggestion was to open SONAR by right clicking and choosing Run As Adminstrator to launch SONAR.

    Worked like a charm.

    Thanks for all the posts.
