TTS-1 Wont Work!

Hi, I'm rather new to Sonar but have mostly figured it out. Unfortunately though, TTS-1 will not work and i have tried all the tutorials with it but it just wont work. Also when i try to view the help file it says it can not find it. I don't know what to do.

we'll need more details to help you.  what do you mean by "it won't work?"  that's way too vague and could be any number of things.  what exactly are you doing, step by step?

also, what soundcard are you using?  can you hear sound from anything at all?

What happens is i get no sound when i click the preview buttons and Sonar will not play any other tracks with it inserted in to the project. Also what happens is that when I try to us it for an MIDI sequence Sonar wont play. Lastly the runs/stop audio engine icon turns red when it is inserted into a project. Also as i mentioned that it cannot find the help file when I click the Help file button in this synthesizer's window.

I am running a Vista 64 bit pc. All the other synthesizers work just not TTS-1. I have an IDT High Definition audio sound card.

What i do first is add the synthesizer through the Insert button or the add synthesizer button. Then I configure the presets (Remember I'm new to this). Then I try to hook up an MIDI track to it or just use it as one itself and either way sonar will not play the project.

ok.  what sampling rate is your project?  TTS-1 only works in 44100Hz and 48000Hz sampling rates.

when you say "all other synths work just not TTS-1" - which ones specifically have you used that work?

or was it 44100 and 88200?  now I don't remember.  I know it always works in 44100, but I forget which other sampling rate it doesn't work in.

not working at 48000Hz (or whatever rate it is, I still don't remember) sampling rate is actually a bug and one that has never been fixed even tho cake knows about it.

Hi,

I read about your problem not being able to open the Help in TTS-1. I had this too (In fact I think all of us do). It's when you click the Help button you get an error.

It's easy to solve but you must feel comfortable editing the registry.

- Make sure to close Sonar and other running programs
- Start the registry editor (type regedit from the run command or a command prompt)
- Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Edirol\Hyper Canvas
- In the right windowpane rightclick the text Help Index and choose Change name (I have a Dutch OS but I believe I got the translation right)
- Then remove the space between Help and Index so it will be HelpIndex and press Enter
- Close the registry editor and try it now. It worked for me.

Best regards,

Rinie

Sigh!
Looks like there’s lots of thing you don’t remember beagle…
TTS-1 works at 24/96 and It would be good if you stopped misinforming users, if you want to post with emphatic statements, fine. But lift you knowledge base of sonar first. Bug! Bug! The only thing bugging me is you inaccurate posting.
STOP IT. Don’t you realize it’s not a competition!

GlennP:

I don't mind you correcting Beagle if he's wrong, but you don't need to berate him for trying. Beagle is well-informed about Sonar and provides a lot of help to people at all levels of experience. Lighten up!

Glenn.  My post above was written before you even said you had a solution so maybe you should take your superior attitude and figure out that I am not trying to dissiminate misinformation, but YOU seem to have a stick up your rear for my posts.

If your solution works then I will gladly start telling people how to solve this problem, but you need to stop harassing me with your attitude for what I knew didn't work before you found a solution to it.

cakewalk has said many times before that this is a bug.  so why would I be telling people any different until someone else finds a solution that works?

you need to get off your high horse attitude and stop finding my posts in the PAST that say this is a bug.

again - I will GLADLY start pointing people to your solution NOW.  but stop complaining that I have told people in the past what CAKEWALK has said!

I dont think GlennP would be so angry with you if you hadn’t been condescending to to him in Post #34 of my thread by saying
“Good for you.  this isn't a contest.” Everything would be cool

All he was saying in post #27 was that both myself and GlennP have had success using the TTS-1 in the past.

And that if we had it working before, we could get it working again, despite what cakewalk, and others have said,we did have it working.
He didn’t deserve your harsh reply to his statement .
I've had 40 plus PM’s with glennp over the last few days and I find him courteous, respectful and funny.
He was not trying to be a jerk.

Best wishes

Hi Beagle
Looks like you and I have got off to a bad start and I would like to turn that around. Lets put it all to bed “done and dusted” and concentrate on what this forum is all about… helping each other, and others “make better music”

Life is to short for B.S.

Maximum respect, GlennP

Glenn - I accept.  We will move forward from here.  Peace to you.

mysonar8 - I will not drudge up why I posted the "contest" comment since Glenn has offered an olive branch.  I hope we can all just let it drop and try to get along.  Peace to you.
