TTS-1
I may have asked this question before, but I don't remember the response if I did. It is probably burried in one of those very long threads. I know that the TTS-1 audio is to capture the midi data to make it playable by TTS-1 (probably not an accurate description, but I think you know what I mean). The output of this track goes to the sound card, or in my case the Firebox interface. What is the purpose of TTS-1 midi track? I just opened a project I haven't really started (just imported my Band in a Box version) and noticed I only inserted the audio version of TTS-1. So, I'm wondering if I should add the TTS-1 midi to the project. Most likely I wil be only adding audio files at this point. Thanks. EDIT: What are the inputs to the TTS 1..the audio one in this files says the Input is TTS1 Output 1; stereo (or something like that)...What is the input for the midi TTS 1?

A MIDI track of some kind is essential, or TTS-1 won't have anything to play. If you have pre-existing MIDI tracks, you can set their output(s) to TTS-1. If you want to record new material, such as notes you play on your Axiom, you will need to insert a new MIDI track. TTS-1 is virtual hardware. The synth audio track is just a connection to bring its sound into MC, the same way a normal audio track brings in the sound from a mic or guitar. You can't see it, but the synth track input is connected to the TTS-1 output. It works like this:

Annette, like Bob wrote, and you already know, TTS-1 takes a track with MIDI info in it and turns it into audio, kind of. So a MIDI track is needed, and when you insert the TTS-1 in a project, there is a check box near the top which is checked by default "Create MIDI Source Track". That inserts a new, empty MIDI track with the outputs already directed to the soft synth. That's for people who are writing a new MIDI track. They can play/mouse in that track and hear it from the TTS-1 from the git go. I almost always already have a MIDI track created with data in it, so I have that box unchecked. So if you want to have the MIDI track inserted before you begin working on the music, make sure that box is checked.

I have deselected that box that they refer to. So when I insert TTS...only the audio track appears. This os OK ...as long as you understand how to direct any midi track to its proper place, or destination....if that's TTS or to another synth...

I use a M-Audio midi controller in TTS, is there a way to disable to "touch response" or touch sensitivity.

You probably can, but it would have to be done in the controller itself. Check your manual to find out how to do it with your particular model.

There's no controls on the midi controller for "touch response". It only has touch sensitivity in MC4, but when I open TTS thru FruityLoops 8 its not touch sensitive. I just hate how FL8 quantizes. I always have to go into the piano roll and manually move every note back one step.

TC85... that sounds extremely tedious.... I looked in MC4 help...there's nothing there on touch response....

That's because it has nothing to do with the software. It is a function of the controller. It would appear that Fruity Loops does not respond to keyboard Velocity (touch sensitivity), or the velocity data is not being properly communicated to TTS-1 when connected to FL. I don't know which controller you have, TC85, but pages 9 and 10 in the Axiom manual show you how to change your keyboard velocity curve (touch sensitivity). You can also assign a fixed value of 64, 100, and 128. I am not familiar with FL, but in MC, you should be able to select your MIDI clip, and drag the whole thing to the left, or use Process>Nudge for more precise adjustment. This will shift the entire clip in one step.

Regarding FL8... make certain the snap value is set to *LINE* for typical recording needs. Then quick quantize, using the ctrl+Q modifier. Fl8, has a feature located in the options menu...options/>midi settings, that allows you to set your own velocity curves. Apparently, it's set at a fixed velocity curve already. The settings for this is located at the bottom right.
