Take Lanes - why won't the previous "take" mute?
Hello All!
I know I must be missing something here. And for the life of me, I can't figure it out. Using the new Platinum here.
Here are my settings: In Preferences/Project/Record:
- Record Mode: Comping
- Auto Punch: Checked
- Mute Previous Takes: Checked
- Loop Recording: Store Takes in Single Track
- Lanes: Create New Lanes on Overlap: Checked
- Multi-track grouping: Do not group tracks
All of that looks correct to me, however, there is specific issue I can't get passed. When recording on an AUDIO track, with the Take Lanes expanded, no matter what, the PREVIOUS take is always ON, and not muted. If I have many takes, the rest are always muted, except for the very last take. This sucks!! In my case, I would like to record the new take and have ALL OTHER TAKES muted including the very previous one. But as of now, all will be muted except the last take. So I am always hearing the last take no matter what.
In a scenario where I might make a huge blunder in the previous take, I would like to be able to record the next take without having to hear the boo-boo at all.
So, if I am recording the 8th take, why am I still hearing the 7th take, while takes 1-6 are muted?
Can someone PLEASE weigh in here and tell me what I am doing wrong? In the meantime, my silly work-around is that between each take I have to record a "dummy" take without actually recording, say a vocal, so that the next take is done with a silent take before it. What a waste when I have to sit and wait for the time to pass along before I do the actual recording.
Thanks in advance for any input on this!
