Take-lane comp recording causes other take-lane clips to split?

Hello,

I was recently loop-recording some different MIDI motive ideas in separate take lanes, and found that if I recorded a new take/comp in a new lane, the all other take lane clips were split at the point that the newest take/clip/comp ended. This also happens when I'm not loop recording. Is there a way to turn off this behavior? ... or perhaps quantize all new clips to, say, 4 bars?

If I cannot, how do others save/record different ideas? Track groups?

thanks!
jp

That's the way Take Lanes work and it does take some getting used to.  There are several threads on Take Lanes and that 'clip-splitting.'  As a starting point, here's a link to a recent one.  It may answer some of your questions.
