I am not trying to make it sound the same really because that thought had also occured to me. I am however doing what I can to curb the extremities in similar areas so that there were not drastic differences from the other songs on the record as far as the sonic spectrums depth (curbing the low end of the instruments around the same areas and rolling off highs as needed).
This song actually didn't need a lot of drastic corrective Eq. I was pretty happy with the guitar tones I got going in, I purposely recorded the bass a little "clacky" as I find I can always cut that out &/or boost the bottom but if you don't capture enough distinction and definition it's harder to bring that out of a rumbly bass track. So I was able to dial that in to my liking fairly quickly too.
I hear what you guys are saying, point noted.
