Tascam FW1884 "SAVE/F1" button issue

Hi Folks,

I meant to post this last update to see if any of the remaining users of the Tascam FW-1884 out there have found the same thing, or if it is just me. Since (I think) installing Ipswich, when I use the "SAVE/F1" button on the FW-1884, the start window will open rather than just save the project.

Any one else noticed this? Can this be put back to the way it was?

Thanks for any feedback.

Regards,

There was several reports about start windows appear without a good reason. I have disabled it and I have no plans to turn it on again. I miss a bit old start window and I am not alone

[I have a FW-1884 sitting unused because of lack of driver support, so I'm interested in this thread.]

If you set the preferences to not use the new Start Screen, does that change the behavior of the F1 button?

Thanks for the replies AZ and Matt.

AZ, I disabled it in the startup options, and it doesn't load when Sonar initially runs, but I don't know if you mean it can be disabled "globally".

Matt, following the disable process as a startup feature, it still comes up when I press the F1 button. It is a little frustrating as the F1 button was a great "1 click" way of saving often while working on a project. That function seems to have been lost with the introduction of the Start Screen. I actually think the Start Screen is a good feature, I just don't want it to pop up when trying to do a save.

You mention that your FW-1884 is sitting idle due to lack of driver support. What do you mean by that? Apart from the issue I have raised I seem to be having a good time with it with Sonar Plt and Windows 7. It also runs under Windows 10 for me for "general audio" without doing anything special beyond the original automatic web upgrade (I am not suing Sonar under Windows 10 though).

Do you have any reason not update to Jamaica? In case you just do "Save" other way ("File/Save" or "Ctrl+S"), is it also appear?

With v1.22 FW plug-in under Jamaica I can not reproduce the problem (I do not have FW and the test was is "imitation" mode, but it has saved the project).

I had this issue as well.
The Start Screen was inserted above File/Save and bumped it down the list.
It can easily be changed by selecting "Tascam FW-1884-1" from the Utilities menu item.
Click on the "F1" drop down box and select "File | Save".
Save it as a preset and it will remember it.
At least it does for me.

Good Luck

Thanks for the additional replies.

AZ, I had updated to Jamaica, it was just ambiguous from my initial post.

Greg, that was the magic. Following your advice solved the problem. Why didn't I think to look there? Thanks again.

Glad it worked.
We FW-1884 people must look out for each other.
