Did you go to Options>Audio>General tab and insert it in the Playback Timing Master and Record Timing Master fields and then click on the Wave Profiler button?

other way around, actually.  you have to run the wave profiler first, then make sure the tascam is listed in the timing masters.  also make sure it is the only thing listed in the DRIVERS.

    Hi
I have been using a Tascam 144 with Sonar for a couple of years with no real problems.  Assuming you have done what the other have suggested, here are my setting on the 'Audio' dialog

    General Tab

Playback Timing Master analogue out L
Record timing master Analogue in L

Dont woory about Stereo Panning Law

Sample rate 44200 (dont think this will be the problem)

All other setting are greyed out _ if they are not at the moment they will be if you carry on with the rest

    Advanced Tab

    Enable read/write caching not-checked
Both Buffers sizes 128 (doubt if this is the problem either)

Driver Mode ASIO  (this is important)
    Dithering  Triangular

Both 'Use mulitprocessing Engine' and 'Use MMCSS (windows Vista) are checked - only do so if relevent for you machine.  All others not-checked.

    All other boxes show '0'

dont think you need to worry about Record latency Adjustment - the Device box should be set by default anyway.

    Drivers Tab

Make sure you check all the Tascam check boxes - there should be 2 in each section one for analogue ans one for digital.

I am not sure what you are using the 144 for (I use it for guitar input), but I have noticed that when you insert an anlogue track in Sonar the default input is set to Left Analogue in L when it shoud be set to Right Analogue in if you are just playing guitar, as that is the guitar I/P on the Tascam.
