Template madness solved!!!

For the longest time I could never figure out why my inputs would always be wrong whenever I save a template. I wanted to save a template that covers all the instruments I usually use. Both what I record and synths. I always like them in a certain order but there was the problem.

If you want your templates to work properly they have to be consecutive. Starting with:

Inputs from your interface first.
Then synths. The synths have to be consecutive also.

ie:
1. AI: any inputs for your tracks. The input order of the AI does not need to be consecutive.

2. Synth 1. All it's inputs don't need to be consecutive.

3. Synth 2. All it's inputs don't need to be consecutive

4. Synth 3. ETC.

The AI and synths do need to stay in order. The AI needs to be first though.

I used to have Addictive drums first and in the midst of that I had a session drummer input. All my inputs would be mess up. All my inputs for tracks that I wanted to record on were all set to the last synth's input. Crazy!

So the synths had to be in order as well. I just move certain tracks around after I insert my template.

I hope all this made sense for you all and hopefully I help some of you figure out this crazy/awesome thing call templates.

Carry on!

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

Thank you, it was really useful.
I found this post when I tried to solve the same problem, and it helped.
