Thank You, Paul (Mooch)

The UPS truck just left a few minutes ago after dropping a small, cardboard box on my doorstep. Inside this box was a small, green disc....

I am now the happy owner of Sonar X1. I suppose I should supply the "backstory"....

Paul posted a song for review from his church group, that Oak Hill Youth Group that his recent videos have been centered on, and I threw out my opinion, then I asked for the raw tracks to experiment with myself. He kindly sent the tracks over, at which time I found I could not work with them "as is", since my Sonar LE version was limited to 8 busses, where as his projects have quite a few more in each song. I might add at this time that I have been recently incapacitated by throat cancer, or more acurately, the recovery from the radiation/chemo treatments are the cause of my immobility. The physical limitations and problems were never lost in the communications with Paul, he always asks and comments on my condition, and knowingly wanted to give me a project that would be theraputic. Having something to work on, goals, a sense of accomplishment, all go hand in hand with keeping positive mental attitude, one of the keys to surviving these types of challenges.

So, back to the story, when I couldn't open the projects, he took the time to re-send the project files to me without any busses, just the tracks straight to a single output. Of course, since I am working with a stripped down version, there are track count limitations, so I still couldn't work on the songs. Not wishing to give up, I went to a (legal) site that had (legal) demo downloads of Sonar, the first would not let me save, but had no time limit....the second would let me save but only lasts 15 days...and we have a winner. I finally opened the songs, split them up into workable projects and got started.

Well, Mister Mooch, for reasons only he would know, found it in his heart to send me a shrink-wrapped copy of X1. I am in shock. I have no idea how to express my thanks in a way that would convey my appreciation properly.

Paul, you have no idea how much this means to me. Last night I had to take my wife to the emergeny room, her blood pressure was dangerously high, heavy chest pains and pain in one arm. They kept her overnight, doing a stress test right now, literally right now as I type this. The tests last night came back "normal", but that does not answer why the elevated b/p, so normal at this point is not an answer. She was just getting back to working Real Estate, feeling better and getting past her fibromyalgia symptoms, with a contract to write today for a young couple who have to put the contract in today to protect this house they found, so she is all worried about the paperwork while getting hooked up to EKG machines, and all of the stress from taking care of me over the last four months of treatments, we both need a break....

Well, I got one heck of a break. When I get to talk to her in an hour or so, she will probably get a great big lift from this too. You really did a good thing, Paul

Thank you so very much

I only hope I can return this favor in some way in the near future.

Later
Albert

very cool of you Paul.  very cool.

Albert - enjoy your X1 and your subsequent X1 bashing, name calling, threatening and gnashing of teeth in the X1 forum.  it's apparently a requirement from owners of X1.

Ha! I am glad you like the "gift"

I shared with Ed (Bapu) the program you  use and your method of importing and opening projects ect.....

and Bapu  - Ed -  paid for - and sent x1 to you  on his own - bapu's generosity  - he is the one to thank. I played a little role in communicating to him your current DAW  -

    and Bapu took action

again - with out me even knowing - I didn't ask him

all praise and thanks goes to bapu

although Ed is humble enough to let me take the credit if I wanted to -

Ed mentioned to me " I hope he doesnt think its a mistake and send it back to cakewalk"

whitch  is why I mentioned to you if you get a package - dont return it

It's all Ed - Thank him!

I really don't know what to say at this point.

Thanks Ed, as noted above, a very class act indeed.

I dunno, I am just at a loss for words right now.

Just got a phone call from the wife, she is done with her stress test, so I am heading out the door to see what is up. Guess I'll have to wait until later to get the program loaded.

And that, my friend, is a source of joy for me - to know that there are people in the world who are concerned for the well-being of their fellow man/woman and will put that into action.

It gives me hope that one day, perhaps humanity can truly be at peace with one another. Seeds planted, Ed, seeds planted.
