With so much negativity in the forum, well also humour, I just want to say thanks to all the members of the forum who take time out of there lives to help others with the program. Every day Im learning more and more, trying to insert loads of info into my brain, and you guys/gal have always been there to anwser my questions. Its very exciting to learn new things about the program and recording in general. anyhow, take care,

I don't look at it as negativity...we were just having fun with a troll. And I am glad you find positive influence from the forum, we all really just want to enjoy ourselves and maybe actually help some one now and then

What a nice guy - that's cool Kevin

I love this place too - and I use Home Studio!! (I do have MC Pro24 2004 though)

When I upgraded from Guitar Tracks to Home Studio, both Beagle and Robert suggested I drop in here now and again as the community was helpful and above all, friendly (much like the GT forum).

LOL - I've learned more about using Home Studio in here that I have in the HS forum

And on the odd occasion, I'm able to step in and help others - that's what it's all about really I guess.

Reading posts by Bob and Reece, Herb, Albert, Greg, Robo et al is like reading a manual that is constantly evolving and improving all the time. Anyone, like the other guy, who doesn't want to buy into this must have a screw loose I reckon.

RE: Thank You 2008/10/22 19:21:32 (permalink)
Thanks for the kind thoughs, i kind of look at it like this, over the last 4 years i have helped a lot of people to enjoy this process, and in the course of that i have learned a ton as well. Some of the folks i helped get started know more than i do now. So it is so reciprical. I do not understand folks like the recent poster, there is so much they have to gain by being nice and going with the flow. Some people unfortunately do not know how to be decent, they expect others to do for them and do not feel compelled to ask nice. Others still have no idea how they sound to others. They just speak out of there pie holes like there is no tommorrow.

Some times it is amazing how some who come here for help have zero idea how to ask for it, they either do not know what to ask, or struggle to communucate with others. Many feel i believe that we are so experienced that we can literally read between the lines. What was particularly frustrating about this recent exchange is that i was clear that we were asking the right questions to get to the problem, but he could or would not see that fact. And only wanted instant gratification. I mean how many times did some one ask "what do you mean by virtual instruments?" Still no response. I for one, and several others as well, even made a last ditch attempt to calm down and ask one more time to give the poster a chance, but nothing doing, he would have none of it. So for me that is as far as my charity goes.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

    Kevin,

I couldn't agree with you more. The people on this forum have painfully brought me through some serious challenges with MC 4, hardware issues, recording and mixing in general. I try to keep it pleasant with the odd whine and rant here and there. There were a couple of times when I hit bottom and was going to give up and then suddenly someone would post something like "take it one step at a time and we will get you there". I don't know how much I believed them at that time (because me, not them), but I should have 3 or 4 "hits" finished in the next week or so. So that says something for these guys.

    Once again Thank youl!

Amen to learning.... Some of the posts and questions from new users have challenged me to dig in and find out if MC4 really does "that"... or better yet, trying to find a way to do "that". I've learned more than a few things that way.... so thanks to you newbies who don't know any better and have asked the impossible questions.

I love this forum as well, most here are exceptional at helping folks who are desperately seeking and need it.I enjoy the humor and fun we have at times, and am always picking up new things that i didnt know before. When i dig into the Midi-world i will be a newbie again,oh great!.I put my trust in the folks here cause they are quite good at trouble shooting and if one doesnt know well theres always someone here who will search for the answer to help beyond what is expected seeing noone gets paid for doing it.Occasional trolls do appear, but are quickly dismissed or come around to knowing that people here help out of the goodness of thier hearts!!..Tight nit little community here and i enjoy the heck out of it..........

For sure, this is a great little community. We get the occasional twit, but the overwhelming majority of people are eager to learn, and willing to listen. Some of the new Sonar users could learn a lot here, if they knew what MC is.
I have to echo Guitarhacker. I have learned a lot just by trying to find answers to the questions posed.
So keep those questions coming. We all learn from them.

I would like to mention that there have been a few times over the last three years where some of the "regulars" have crossed each other up, minor disagreements about some things, usually because of a misunderstanding related to a comment (or two) that was missinterpretted. But the rough edges were smoothed over through mutual respect, and some discussion and explanations.

Respect...not that big of a concept, but it goes a long way.
