Thank goodness it's only once a year ...

Oh man, how do I say this without sounding like a grumpy old man telling a bunch of kids to get off my lawn? Heh.

2.5 miles directly south of my house ... tomorrow ... http://www.lazer1033.com/LAZERfest-2012/12220882

What drew my attention to this was, the wife said to me, "Do you hear that outside?" To which I quickly responded, "Oh, yeah, that's just someone doing a mic check ... A MIC CHECK?!"

Try to picture this, when you look out my back door, there is nothing for miles and miles and miles. It's all flat, no trees, and the wind carries sound very far. If I could hear them doing a mic check like they were in my back yard from 2.5 miles away, just imagine what it's going to be like when the bands kick in tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind if it was Willie, or Ricky Skaggs, or someone cool like that ... but Slash and Sebastian Bach and 20 other groups I never heard of that all look like escaped convicts? Aye yi yi. What the hell is a Buck Cherry, Dead Horse Trauma, or a POD?

20,000 tickets have been sold.

Get a bigger PA than them and yell "GET OFF MY FREAKIN' LAWN YOU KIDS".

Or drown them out with CDs by Willie, or Ricky Skaggs, or someone cool like that ...

How about you sit up the road a few miles and impersonate an officer of the law.
Never say it but imply it, because after all it is slightly illegal.

Pull a few over and give some DUI tests or ask about that odd odor in the vehicle.
Then being the nice cop guy you are and seeing as they seem to be barely over the limit, a $100 cash fine should be a fair "Just get out of here" fee.

You'll be up to your neck in Fender tone in no time at all.

Damn ... they don't sound good from 2.5 miles away, but Shinedown has one hell of a light show. So far they are the only band besides Slash and his group where I can hear the crowd cheering. It's kind of weird. They went nuts after Sweet Child.

I'd hate to be the house that's a few hundred feet away from the edge of the crowd. I know them, and I know they can't be happy about this. They have a kennel at their place called The Howl-A-Day Inn. Poor puppies ears must be killing them.

It looks like Five Finger Death Punch was one of the opening bands ... I think they are the ones that cover "Bad Company" ... what did you think of it, assuming they played it?  I recall when I heard it that I liked the original a lot more.

Wow... if you can hear it well enough at 2.5 miles away to identify the songs, imagine how freaking loud that is right up front.

There would be blood running out of their ears..... Ouch!

I didn't catch them, got home after they played ... but ... funny you mention that. I did hear a band start a bunch of songs and stop, one of them was the song Bad Company. The guitar player would go 10 - 15 seconds in to a song and the lead singer would stop him and tell him to BLANK off. They eventually went in to some kind of guttural growl grunge noise. It sounded like they were screwing with the crowd by pretending to start playing a bunch of 70/80's rock tunes.
