Thank you Cakewalk
I started off with Twelve Tone/Cakewalk when it was still MIDI only on early Windows and have progressed through to SONAR X3 Producer. I did try lifetime support with SONAR Artist for a while but decided to abandon that in favour of the standalone X3, a decision that now seems to have been wise. I just want to say a big thank you to Cakewalk staff who have been committed to developing a great product over many years. I am sorry for the way that you guys and girls have been treated and I hope that your experience, skills and loyalty will continue to benefit the music industry for a long time to come. In addition, I have always found the Cakewalk community extremely helpful.

There was never ever a "lifetime guarantee", no company in the world would offer that. And to think that's indeed what was offered is quite frankly dumb. You were given lifetime updates of the product, the product is no longer so there are no more updates.

Hey Igi, I think you’ve flipped your wigi. Have you ever done anything useful here? All you seem to do is whinge and moan. It’s not all about you. Yeh Cakewalk deliberately planned to go out of business so they could become unemployed. And Gibson planned it all just so they could lose money and be going broke themselves. Yeh right!

"Today is all about money" Do you work for nothing? If you owned a business and it went under, would you continue to provide goods and services in perpetuity out of your own pocket? Honestly the sense of entitlement some people have shown over the past few weeks has been depressing. Surely, as a grown adult, you understood that "lifetime updates" didn't mean your lifetime or anyone else's.

Hey Cakewalk, thank you too. I literally learned how to sequence midi with cakewalk 25 years ago. I am still shocked by this sad news. Even more so because Sonar looks like such an incredible DAW these days.. Gorgeous looks and so much functionality.. It's SO sad to see it go, as well as all the wonderful instruments, and I am still hoping someone will swoop in and save the day. My best to you all.

Sonar is a great DAW and right now it still does everything I want it to. Now in a year from now will I be singing the same tune ? Not sure. All I know is I will continue to use Sonar until either: A- It stops working. B- Technology makes it inferior. C- I find something I like just as much as Sonar. igiwigi Thanks Cakewalk for taking our money and dumping us More like It!!! Dont care what company owns the software It is a rip off for all customers that paid the lifetime guarantee.
no one guaranteed you anything. That's something you have spun up on your own. Matter of fact there aren't many things in life that are guaranteed. It wasn't called- "Life Time guaranteed updates". I have found in life there 2 types of people. There are those who will manage a bad situation and find positives and then there are those who will complain about it endlessly and make themselves and others around them miserable in the process. Don't be the latter.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I've been a director in a limited company that went into liquidation. It was horrendous and the stress was unbearable. I have all sympathy with the Cakewalk directors and employees.

I imagine the people who worked for Cakewalk are feeling worse than we are. We've lost future development for some software we use, those people have lost their livelihoods. Yes its disappointing for the consumer but I think a bit of perspective is needed.
