Hi Leee- At this point there is no plan for an upgrade to the full version of R-MIX. I am glad you are enjoying the upgrade.

I just now ran a few projects in X2 after it installed. Nothing to report except it worked. I do believe its handling multi-cores better. But I wouldn't go by this report just yet. Keep in mind that I am on Vista 64 and it installed without incident or problems. It migrated all my settings overs from X1 and so all I had to do was start it and play with it. The only thing is the install seemed to take a very long time. I did not install Dim Pro or Rapture because I already have them. The new FX modules all installed fine. Darn it, I have no real complaints!!!!!! Where's the fun in that? Oh the important point my projects seem to play back fine. There is a lot to get used to but I think it will be a pleasure.

Personally I think X2 is a good upgrade value for $99. Compared to the $300 upgrade path from Pro Tools 9 to Pro Tools 10 it is a steal. I also generally like the light versions of software that come bundled with Sonar. The fact that many of them have upgrade paths means that I can pay less for Sonar than if I got the full version of these FX, and choose which ones to upgrade if I like the light versions. From my first impressions the reworked zoom, lanes, and the updates to the Pro Channel are solid and the console emulation sounds good. That makes me very happy. :-) Peace, Tunes

Rasure X2 is the dogs b******* IMO everything that X1 should have been. Even with some minor hicups, the support on the forums with X2 from cake staff has been fantastic! Great work Bakers!!! :-) Or the "Ducks Guts",as Ducati owners say,I'm totally and utterly happy with what I got for $99,except,I being still a computer virgin,to some degree, went and bought the box/dvd's,for $163 total, and due to the download and install/reg. on 2 machines, being SOO EASY,I wished I'd saved the 64 AUD,but even at $128+ shipping,I'm still completely satisfied! Been awake for 36 hours with X2,all is well[except my eyesights becoming blurred ] Anyone who's still waiting, seriously,go install now,the lower cpu usage alone on my laptop, makes it worth it! Jimbo 88 Hey Bapu, I think you were 1st, but we should double check. There was someone named "toon" or something that I think might have posted a X2 pic before you finished. It could be a photo finish. I think we need to check the tape for a review. Might be too close to call. I believe I was the first to call "download" but my speed was such that yeas, someone did "install" before me. I ent cryin' foul.

Installed smoothly. Found all plugs. Looking forward to learning the new features. 20 minutes, shook out a few new bits, no problems. I think now that the heavy lifting is over, Cake will continue to refine the application. I'm digging it but then I always have, even when my faith was tested in the early days of X1. From where this whole computer music bit started to where this app is today... I'm very grateful for the evolution. It's a big part of what contributes to my happiness. Thanks, Cake! Keep it up!

Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk ] Eddie TX Andrew and all the other fine Bakers: I can't understand why anyone might feel that the X2 upgrade isn't worth the asking price. Sonar is, IMO, by far the best bang-for-buck DAW on the market. X2 only solidifies this position. Congratulations on the successful rollout, and best of luck in the future! Cheers, Eddie I totally agree :) Thanks for the endorsement. Hey Andrew and all the Cakewalk staff, you've done a brilliant job here with X2, and the upgrade price is way beyond just "good value" ... it's a steal. I find it hard to fathom how anyone could think this upgrade may not be worth it. I'd happily pay double, maybe more ... but then you'd probably have to increase the retail to make it look better :-) But seriously, the producer version is such awesome value, I'm sure there will be a big bubble of growth in your customer base with this release. I haven't had time to play with everything as yet, and I already owned TH2 full, Rapture full etc. Right now I'm in "Automation Heaven", just finishing off a project I'd started in X1. Running smooth as could be, I couldn't be happier :-) Cheers - Cliff

I have to agree with Eddie and Cliff. I liked X1 a lot but even though it is early as far as me having a complete picture of it, it is simply outstanding. I also like the look of the time line. So many of the small things have been attended to.

Reading whats new in sonar x2 in the online documentation I found this under Other enhancements Gapless operation when moving loop points, inserting effects, and inserting and replacing synths. Optimized MIDI input timing results in improved Arpeggiator timing and real-time soft synth playing. Browser preview stays synchronized with the Matrix. Support for ReWire 64. For details, see ReWire.

I have to agree with you folks as well. X2 is an excellent release with fantastic content and features. If you can't get a good mix with the stock plugins of X2 then it's not the software that needs work. The upgrade price is extremely fair considering what you are getting. Think about how much some plugins cost, Sonar is an excellent value for sure. I'm 100% satisfied with it.

Beepster It's sounding pretty awesome. I'm not installing right away myself but that's more out of laziness/not wanting to go through another boring install just yet. Hoping to close out my tester track in the next couple of days. I'll probably install right after that. The installation is a long but painless process. I was installing and watching video on the same computer, that's how I tackle the boring process of installation. That's my 1 cent worth of advice. LOL

From clicking on the part 1 install to opening X2 for the first time took me just fifteen minutes. That included the extraction process. I can only assume it was because I use SSDs? Once X2 was installed I had to go back and install Rapture and I also spent a bit of time getting all of my plugs recognised but that's not so boring as such because I'm concentrating on what I'm doing.

Personally I'm quite blown away by the value. I would probably have upgraded just on the strength of UI and engine improvements, and if I had any hesitation any one of the included extras (R-Mix, Breverb, TH2, console emu) would probably have put it over the edge; all 4 of them (plus Rapture, although I already had that) make it, umm, a no-brainer's no-brainer... as it were...

Cakewalk hit this one out of the park. The enhanced audio engine and workflow enhancements were easily worth the cost to me. I will be using the console emulation for most tracks and buses from now on. Still haven't got around to using the TH2 Sonar or Breverb sonar. Both look great and I will be checking those out more closely over the next week. Great job! Much respect!

+1 on thanks from me too. I came back in from the cold, Roland VS880/1880 then Logic Pro. X1 was good, but, the new X2 stuff takes it to a whole new level of use. Some bugs showing, but, I am sure they will be squished :). Tony

Ive had a chance to test X2 out a little. I checked the LP plugins I was never able to use them in the past because of glitching when adjusting a parameter. That is fixed. The audio engine seems nearly bullet proof. The multi- core usage is far better. Overall this release so far is outstanding. No previous first release has ever been this bug free. I'm not saying there are no bugs I am saying I haven't run across any yet. The changes are well thought out. This is a killer app. CW has a winner. There is no way for me to know how your system will work with X2 but if you can this is the version to get. Oh I was playing with R-Mix a little. A really fun addition to Sonar. Endless possibilities there. BTW don't think this is a toy it isn't.

In very limited usage so far I have to agree. X2 seems like a very stable and much improved DAW over X1 - and I got along mostly just fine with X1. The overall integration of the tools (like Snap in differing views) is awesome. And while I don't get the feel that any one tool is the thing that really gets me going the overall feel of solidity and transparency is really awe inspiring. To me it seems like the engine that CW created in X1 is now the big engine that can...with grace. Bravo Cakewalk!!! Regards, </end gush> ;-)

And while I don't get the feel that any one tool is the thing that really gets me going the overall feel of solidity and transparency is really awe inspiring. This its well said. I fully agree. BTW this thread was aimed at the CW employees. Some one on another thread made mention of this by saying it is premature. Thanking the people that worked on this product and got it out deserves a thank you. I'm watching all the CW people on this forum answering questions providing information some are doing this on their own time. We here often take CW for granted to a degree. We sometimes need to remind ourselves that the people behind CW are real humans that are no different from ourselves. They too have all the emotions and setbacks that we are subject to. It can't hurt to give them a pat on the back from time to time if only to express our shared humanity. I started this thread only to let the employees know that we appreciate their hard work in order for us to have an outstanding program. I couldn't be happier for them knowing they have done it! Its the pride of creation and its a good thing.

John: I write software for a living and like you I seem to be sensing a pride in what I've been reading from CW and the two videos CW produced (the Webinar and the quick and dirty one they just put out). As a dev I think that sense that I'm getting is spot on and *very* well deserved by CW employees. They went through some tough spots with X1 and to me X2 just seems like the icing on that cake. (pun intended) Regards
