Thanks to Presonus, Steinberg, and Acoustica
In light of the circumstances, I'd like to thank Presonus, Steinberg, and Acoustica for their generosity and welcoming attitude toward Cakewalk/Sonar users.
I guess all good things eventually come to an end.
There's a great core group of users here... and with one door closing, it's nice to see several others opening.
Long-term, that makes the situation a little less daunting.
It's still a great time to be involved with DAWs, music, and technology.
Though it may not be exactly as anticipated, the future is still bright.

Agreed Jim!
People need to stop fearing change. Change is what makes
life interesting. It's not always bad. And I'm sure many will
actually find they are quite happy down the road.
Here's to hoping that something good happens with Sonar, but,
in the mean time, prudence dictates being prepared with an
alternate means in the process.

It's not so much the change, but the cost. No one has budgeted for this and with Xmas coming up... Tough times. This is a crap way to see the year out really. And I can't help feeling sorry for the ex Cake staff... we think we've got problems!
Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

And thanks Jim for recommending the 44VSL. Even with all of the past driver problems, it works really well with Studio One. Much better than it ever did with Sonar. I was seriously looking at an RME interface just to get better drivers, but the Studio One integration with PreSonus interfaces has me rethinking that. Regards, Dan

I appreciate them reaching out. Some may see it as vulture like, but not me. Of course reaching a hand out is beneficial to them, but they could easily just sit back and wait for the inevitable. Making the first step shows they genuinely want our business. I have never been able to feel comfortable in Cubase, but still appreciate the offer. I also have a greater appreciation of what a great product mixcraft is for the cost. I have already been using Studio One for about 9 months . I do wish the crossgrade offers would last longer. It has to really be hard on people to have to make such drastic choices so quickly. Some Cakewalk users have been using since DOS days. Having to evaluate and commit to something totally alien has to be stressful

Totally agreed, I have just purchased Studio One for 126, a very generous offer, and hope to also add Mixcraft for $ dollars if my initial impressions of the demo continue as I try it out. I did miss the extra discount that ended yesterday, but hoping the group code at JRR will be back so I can purchase it for less. I think both DAWs are very good alternatives for me, even though I struggle mightily with getting used to them. I'm starting to really like Studio One the more I play with it and watch instructional videos, etc. So there is hope for life after Sonar, which I've been using since Version 3, the first Windows version. I also am happy to have a cross-platform product like Studio One, as I also own a MAC mini and know a lot of other mac users out there who can't deal with the Windows-only product such as Cakewalk.
