That Guy With The Headphones

Hey everyone,

I've been working with Cakewalk for a while now and thought I'd finally post some stuff up here.

Unfortunately, I don't have much finished because of college and procrastination but this should give you a taste:

I also have some stuff up on bandcamp (mainly improvisations and remixes) if you would check that out: http://thatguywiththeheadphones.bandcamp.com

Would love to hear what you think. :) Feedback is always appreciated.

    Pretty creative idea there TGWTH.

The vocals seem a bit muffled to me. But maybe that was the effect you wanted.

    Thank you. :)

'Without Warning' was THE first track I finished ever with vocals and instrumentation so I didn't really know what I was doing, haha. Still don't. I know nothing about mastering but I had a friend master it and it sounds a bit better now. Just waiting to finish this EP to release it.

    Interesting piece, honestly.

There is deep rumble on my system, not sure if you wer after that but you might roll the EQ off on that at 75hz.

The vocals are way too far back in the mix.  It's hard for me to hear what's going on.  The vocals sound good from what I can hear, but they need to come forward in the mix.

    This is weirdly pretty cool.

I liked the musical idea a lot. The vox sound kind of buried and also a little tentative sounding in places - kind of sounds like you recorded yourself practising rather than capturing a finished idea if that makes sense. Maybe it's meant to be that way - just how it sounded to me.

As you're new ( welcome btw - hope you'll stick around - there's some good stuff posted here) I'll add my usual disclaimer that I don't claim to be any kind of expert in anything and any opinion I give is just that of a listener.

you weirdo you! like Deutsch Nepal or Brighter Death Now, but the vox need to get a lot more integrated into the instrumentation...get ur verb out.

A creative first effort. The technical stuff will come with time, but it won't help if you aren't being creative. Agree with the above statements wrt to the technical stuff. Nice that it's not crushed with compression. Some reverb on the vocal, even fairly short, would be nice, to lay it back more into the music.
