That's enough...
this forum can operate anyway it wants but I'm the one that will decide if it's something I agree with or not. I don't agree with anybody changing what I write without telling me first so I'm gone..is that clear enough Karyn? Wanted my friends to know why. See ya.

This thread I changed the title from "How about they" to something more meaningful in a long list of feature suggestions. Wanted my friends to know I'm doing my job. I even voted 5* for the suggestion.

However politically correct the changes are/might be, it might have been a better idea to contact Spacey first and ask/suggest it for him to change the title no? After all, he is the author of the thread and deserves that respect.

No disrespect to anyone ever intended in anything I do, however I don't have time to PM everybody and ask their permission every time I do the job I've told to do. It was not a change for political correctness or anything like that, in the context of a list of feature suggestions the original title was meaningless. I'm saying no more on the subject.

I hope Spacey isn't gone for good. He's a good guy with a lot of knowledge that I have personally benefitted from. He will be sorely missed. :(

Perhaps the original title could have been preserved in ( ) brackets for example. I think it is a bit strong reaction to leave because of a title change.

I have submitted posts, blogs, etc. on various forums and sites where editors/hosts/admins have changed my titles on occasion. While I generally had reasons for the titles I used, I had no problem with the changes. I'm not saying what I think anyone else should do, but I do not have a problem with having a forum host alter the title of my thread, move it to a more appropriate sub forum, or even lock it as they see fit without notifying me first. I can also understand why someone else might feel differently. To me, this is a dynamic community where I am only one participant in a larger (rather noisy) discussion. If I have something I really want to say without any external filtering or editing, I'll say it on my blog. That's just me, however. YMMV. I enjoy following Spacey's threads on guitar building even though I have absolutely no skills (or comprehension) in that area. It's good to see an artist at work. I hope we get to see more.

I'm posting in respect to those that have posted and to those that may yet and I too will be done with this. Is it right for anybody to make changes to anothers post without them knowing? Everybody can answer that as they want. I believe I've made it clear that it is something I will not tolerate. People feel they have the right to speak for me....well give it your best shot. There are much better ways-a request in the thread would have had the change made- but I'm not into trying to change a thing about how people conduct themselves and I sure don't need the drama of it all. I simply wanted my friends to know that a line had been crossed and I'm doing the only thing I can about it. Some may understand and others won't. Bye.

Hi, Spacey. Count me in with those who would miss your presence (even though I'm not around as much myself lately). As you personally know I've had some... erm... moments where I was done but after a cooling period felt the community as a whole was worth it to stick around. You may (or may not) recall the advice you gave me back then and it was good advice. Perhaps once the frustration settles you'll reconsider. If not then I wish you all the best and thank you for all the interesting guitar building threads, kind words and quality conversations. Cheers.

Since I don't know what the original title was (if you do, please PM me) my only question is...are you telling me that if your title is dopey, dimwitted, irrelevant or simply obtuse it can be changed by a hall monitor on a whim?? Really? If so sounds like someone who's a size 16 might be trying to squeeze into size 4 jeans. Course I say that with love.

I would not want anyone changing anything I wrote on their own without discussing with me first. If the moderator does not have time for that, they should not change anything. If moderators are allowed to change another person's words at will, then Cake should address the issue. This should not be OK and going forward, if Cake is OK with it, then we should all be for-warned. I think in this case, the moderator got too trigger happy. We all can mess up at times so I hope everyone will settle down and move on. In no circumstance, unless it is a TOS violation, would I think it OK for a moderator to change anything in a thread I posted. It's the principle that's a concern here. We do have the right to post using our own words and I can certainly see a thread getting moved if need be but it should not be acceptable to have our own words changed by someone else in an attempt to make it a better read. Good grief!

> I don't agree with anybody changing what I write without telling me first Actually, I think you did: "You agree that “Cakewalk Forum” have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit." It takes very little effort to write a meaningful thread title which informs the reader as to the subject matter of the thread. Generally, I assiduously avoid threads with titles such as "Look at this..!" or "Have you ever considered...", "And another thing...", "This is just wrong!"; the list is endless. In my honest opinion Karyn acted with the best interests of the forums at heart, such that the modified thread title better informed the forum's readers as to its subject. Should Karyn have informed spacey that the thread's title had been modified? Perhaps, but by the same token, spacey should have informed Karyn why he posted a thread with a title which gave no indication as to the subject of the thread. Even the subject of this thread... :-( Make an effort already, it's not that hard. Really, this is just a storm in a teacup, or maybe a mild swell at most. This is the internet, to consider that any electronic communication you make, whether by email, on forums or whatever is somehow inviolable, private or even owned by oneself is an fallacy. It's about as meaningful as pissing into the ocean, it's just not worth mugging yourself over.
