Coexisting with aliens was probably much simpler back in the 40s. That was back before the infestation from Grzylyrg. Back then I think they were mainly just watching us from afar.

The first article talks about the flying discs circling at "a high rate of speed". In the 40's that must have been like 65mph?

I don't know what you're talking about.  Human beings were completely replaced by aliens by the 1930's.  The last remaining humans are kept in an observation tank at the Grzylyrg Zoo and Bait Shop.

Enough about that.  I've got some visitors pounding on the glass right now.  If only I had a handful of something I could fling at them...

Reminds me of the misunderstanding of the alien's book title "To Serve Humans" (it was actually a cookbook!).

The very idea that some extraterrestrial species has risen to a level of technological advancement that allows them to travel between the stars and then makes itself known only to a drunk redneck in the back of beyond always amazes me.

And for certain, nobody would flippantly recall their experiences of first contact if they happened to be on the wrong end of a probing from Asparapuss.

I got exactly one month to the day before I have to start using Jack Benny's famous line. :(

I wish aliens would bring us time travel technology. Or have they?

As for them only visiting rednecks, heck, it's the perfect cover. I mean, who would ever believe them? :) Anyone remember the series of games called Redneck Rampage? Awesome game! It won't run on XP and above or I'd still be playing it.

The UFO thing is one of my interests, read a lot of books, attended a few meetings, drew on outside information developed my own theories. Most of it is hogwash but a lot of it can't be explained or denied unless you choose to deny it. Heck- NASA has pictures of these things.

Greetings, Space Cowboy.  I'm from the future.

There, now I can cross that one off of my "To Do" list.  I'll hit another 20 or 30 of these, and then call it a day.  I think Joan of Arc is next.

Yep!  That be the one.  I sit corrected!

As for the time travel comments, you have to consider the whole affair like a loop.  Until man actually creates the time machine, no one has gone back into time.  After that happens, all history would change with a ripple-like effect and, suddenly, accounts of future humans will appear in our history.  Of course, then we get into all sorts of bad paradoxes that make for good (and bad) movies now.

One small addition, time is not linear and particles have already been shown to move back and forward in time (though only mere fractions of a second so far).

“On April 4, 1949, FBI agents in Utah sent a cable marked “urgent” to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.”

So my first question is this … was J. Edgar sitting in his office wearing women’s clothing when he got the message?  (for the benefit of those of you from across the pond, American conspiracy theorists hold that Hoover was a cross-dresser).

My second question is … way are the aliens so obsessed with anal probing?

Tora! Tora! Tora! was the very first movie that I saw as a child in the movie theaters.  I was 6 years old … that movie helped shape who I am today.  Unfortunately, I was never able to sit through 2001’s “Pearl Harbor” in its entirety.

The Longest Yard Day was / is one of my all time favorites.

    The 40's were rough!

My ol' '39 Time machine had running boards, no heater or air con and it still took me a full 18 years to get to the time of my birth.

Then I went forward to the '70's and always dreamed of having my own recording studio, fast forward another 40 years and I have one far beyond my wildest dreams.  Too bad everyone else muscled in on MY dreams.

But I'd not go back. Sure, Time machines have moved on but who can afford to run one these days?  Besides I was such a baby back then.
