The heading of that post: The 5 Best Freeware Guitar EffectsThe guitar gets a section to itself. Here’s a list of the best six-string free software… The first freebie recommended: VB-1 – Virtual bass instrument Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

AmpliTube Custom Shop should have been in the list. "FREE version of AmpliTube 3 with 24 models including a digital chromatic tuner, 9 stomps, 4 amps, 5 cabs, 3 mics, 2 rack effects"

that list is rather misleading. 1st plugin is a virtual Bass instrument - uh not guitar effects. 2nd is a virtual acoustic guitar instrument, modeled not sample based - uh not guitar effects. NI Guitar Rig free is meh, IK Multimedia custom shop isn't even mentioned thought NI guitar rig is. come on. that's a bogus list. everyone knows you have to have a top 10 list. a top 5 list? this author is smoking crack and trying to meet a deadline. the author failed.

Clearly a schism from symbolism just to generate some cynicism in those suffering from gasism.

LePou's Cranked AC is a rocking distortion box (a sim of a Wampler AC-30 overdrive sim). NI could do worse than to contract out GR6 to those guys. Also, if you don't mind a little lo-fi weirdness, check out the one that was a finalist in last years KVR Developer's Challenge - Guitar Gadgets.
