hmm... maybe I've gotten weirder with age but that Richard Hell stuff isn't as weird as I remember. Still pretty interesting considering the time period.

Edit: Actually I take that back... I think whoever posted that playlist just stripped out the really crazy stuff. Urgh.

But, going back to music, try THIS on for size!

Hmm. I see Slow Marching Band, but no Headscape...

Also notice Freur are missing;

I did say it was only "some" of what I had.

I've got Doot Doot, I'm sure of it (and lots of Underworld).  In fact I used to spin the title song when I was a DJ (from 1980-1983).  Freur's reminds me of a mashup of Bronkski Beat and Japan.  I'll have to look when I get back - just about out the door to go deposit my rent check - bleh!

Actually, I'm sure I'm missing some on that list.  Someday I'll have all of my collection loaded into Media Monkey (there's still MONTHS of work before that will be finished), then I can generate reports nine ways from Sunday to see what I've got!

No Headscape?  Is there an album I should get somewhere?

Was just trying to figure out why I knew that name since that's one artist I DON'T have anything from.  Then it hit me...  He's the one that did 4'33" the song completely made of black noise - lol!

A friend of mine had a vinyl copy. The cover was black with no writing as well. He has even performed it live to rave reviews lol

There have been covers! Someone even did a tongue and cheek dubstep remix. The drop is epic!

I was only able to download the first track...  Did I miss something?

[Edit:  Never mind!  You can only download the first track from the home page, but they're all there on the Music page.  I'll have to check them out when I get back from some errands!  Thanks for the heads up!]

Go to the 'Music' page, all 16 tracks are there. The home page plays the tracks automatically but you only see them one at a time.

Has anyone ever heard of a guy named Bob Log III? Bizarre guy who plays guitar like he is posessed. Tends to perform wearing a specialozed motorcycle helmet with mic built-in

John Cage's Shock has one song which features the one and only Yoko Ono on vocals...

Yoko is one step above Wing among odd choices for guest vocalists. Speaking of which, Wing's cover album of AC/DC songs is so bad it's good. I can mever jear highway to hell the same.

I'm a fan of her Dancing Queen.

Speaking of Dancing Queen and weird. The band P, featuring Butthole Surfer's singer and Johnny Depp, did a pretty odd cover of that one.

Wow - I don't have even one of those albums.
I need to get out more - or should have got out more when I was younger.

I've actually been going through these for the last three hours.  Much more fun than that 100 Best Guitar Whiffs list!

Craig    I second that. I spent hours Saturday night listening to and watching those samples provided by MOJO. The video about A Day in the Life is quite good, although I never found Pepper the least bit strange. Advanced, for sure.

Cheers,

Bert

A Brief Encounter
Woman: Do these pants make my ass look fat?
Me: Why yes, as a matter of fact they do.
Woman: (visibly angered) Should I try a different pair of pants then?
Me: No, I don't think that will help whatsoever. It has nothing to do with the pants.
Woman: (now fully enraged) Hoof!!! (Loud Sound Effect)

This one's weird..

Hollis was lead singer in Talk Talk, this was his only solo record. It's mostly improvised in the studio, and goes in some very odd directions, sometimes with very beautiful results. Shame he 'retired' from music after this, I'm sure he had a lot more to share.

Do you have that one also or did you see it in my list?  Now I'll have to go listen to it again once I'm done checking out this album by some Headcase guy.

Finished listening to your effort James.  Impressive!  I think the last time we talked about it you only had Headless Cross (which I had heard before) and maybe one other finished...  I really enjoyed it (the instrumental songs more than the "Screw You!" one anyway!).

I then went straight into Mark's album and, I have to say, yours sounds more polished.  I forgot how "delicate" and a bit depressing it was.  I'll definitely need to put something on with energy afterwards!  Hehe...

MOJO has a field where you can enter (reader's) candidates for Weirdest Album. I entered this: http://www.amazon.com/Texas-Travel-Guide-Kenneth-Johnston/dp/B0015HGSJ4/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1409989072&sr=1-1&keywords=Kenneth+Johnston

Oh and how can I forget... Richard Hell and the Voidoids "Blank Generation". Unfortunately youtube only has a playlist for the album that bleeds into later stuff which isn't as good. BG is a very strange album without losing musicality though and worth a listen.

https://www.youtube.com/w...ist=PLC7A055A1CF686683

Richard Hell was actually in Television who are considered "protopunk" so basically before the Pistols broke and considered pretty influential to the whole movement.

Marquee Moon is one of my favourite albums Beep.

Blank Generation is a great song, interesting that the mix is very reminiscent of Television's 'open' sound. I've never heard the album though, must put that on my to do list.
