I saw the ad...I didn't consider it overtly offensive. That said, a side-by-side comparison with the bottom-line price would be beneficial.

I use Sonar exclusively for all my musical compositions. Nevertheless, having Pro-Tools is essential in today's musical landscape for the sole reason that EVERY studio worth its EQ has it. If you want to work with the big boys (and many of the smaller ones, too), you need to speak Pro-Tools...it is the Studio lingua franca. Sonar is (imho) a great product, but I didn't purchase it in lieu of Pro-Tools...I purchased for its great feature set, ease of use and yes, price.
