The CHB - "Hall of the Mountain Bing" mix update 3/12/09

Long time since I've been in here but it has fallen to me to read you all this scroll which follows...

Like the majority of over-blown space epic productions that have occured in the last century this one to is disjointed in it's chronological presentation. Some would cynically suggest that it is merely down to the commercial aspects of making up a sequel when the unleashing of Asparupuss on an unsuspecting planet struck greater fear on the inhabitants of Earth than was anticipated.

Was the time right to exploit the masses and to bolt another chapter onto the previous yarn?

Decide for yourself but the quaffers of the barely drinkable brown beverage available at the Coffee House in Sonarland have known for a long time the evil doings of Bing the Berciless for aoens, and as if by way of proof of that their combined age goes back even further than that.

Nay, they have been patiently waiting to introduce the bad news to those that inhabit the pleasant grassy vales of the planet Earth whilst trying to postpone the inevitable arrival of the product of Bing's appaling personal hygeine standards.

Today nobody need blame the strangest smells on the family dog, tis true enough Bing is on his way and those left standing will have to set aside gentler pursuits more normally associated with the human race, like suing the neighbours over parking rights, and unify to join in the fight against evil itself which will become manifest in the 24/7 stench of the Berciless ones armpit aroma that will pervade the sweet smelling air we currently know and love!

This then as a familiarization excercise for you warriors soon to be is the first chapter dating from the pre-history of the despicable Bing the Berciless depicting the black hole of filth from which he/it/that emerged.

A song from the tortured archive of the fatigued cosmic war veterans Steve Strummer and Ed Kocols' minds strap yourself down and inflict upon yourselves....

The Hall of the Mountian Bing.

Featuring a Production Cast of 1000's including.

Space Cowboy: as the Narrator.
Oh Grant: on Laser Lead Guitars.
Steve Strummer: for the solid fortress of Sound.
Bapu/That Or Ed: Subsonic planetary re-alignment.
Alex the Kook: Electronic synthesized force fields.
Misty: for adding to the Fog and taking delivery of a new car.
Qoqol: Primal screams.
The Bouy: Rataplan

The final Potion was Engineered, Mixed and Mastered by Bapu/That or Ed.

God bless all of us and have mercy on us! Now if you would now make your way by following the link below.

Mix Updated 3 December '09

Bapu has uploaded a corrected mix after some suggestions made here, thank to those who pointed them out.

  • Bass level significantly increased
  • HMF 'fizz' decreased caused by 'verb on one of the drum tracks.
  • UAD2 Fatso tape sim applied to various drum mic tracks.
  • Various mysterious and sundry miscellany applied in Bapu's lab.

a truly epic sonic assault from that enigma we know as the CHB.  Oh that nasty Bing, he/it/she/that certainly has a penchant for some heavy guitar work!  And at just under 10 mins., I'd say that is a record for the songs forum in recent history (although I could be wrong).

Kudos all around, great performances, great mix and great fun!

scuse me while I take a hit of acid and go listen again

That is beyond cool!  Amazing and super fun.  Jon, it sounds like you must have worn yourself out on the drums.  Crazy!  And whoever's playing that wild guitar...wow.  Anyway, great job everyone.  Fun!

What a fantastic work you guys!
    That was pure cool.
I can only imagine the effort you all put into it and my hats off...well it's gone, I got so exicited I thru it somewhere...Bing! No sh&7 sherlock that was good to me.
Man that would have made Ozzy fall off his 4 wheeler again!
I can't say any instrument was better to me as you guys worked as a unit. And getting results like that thru the pipes....just amazing. Just a great ride from a group of Mountain Bing Hall of Famers. ( as a string stretcher I gotta add +++ tones and musicianship)

    Interesting.

At the risk and possibly the vagaries of MP3, or the layer of carpet it has to penetrate, I would have liked the vocal just up a tad.

    Nice job guys.

@ Foxy, Jules, CLEAN, Scotty, Janet, bayoubill - Thanks so much for your support. We're glad you liked it.

@ Oaf - That is why, for $149.99, today only, we offer that option, send us money please!

@ Wookie - I struggled with that vox question quite a bit. space_cowboy did an interesting treatment on his vox and if I raised them too much, the treatment was (overly) in your face. Besides, what's a tad amongst friends, right?

How cool!! The vocals kind of reminded me of King Diamond without the falsetto (and the satan-worship ).

The drums were crazy awesome.  Loved the rip-off of the Inspector Gadget riff and the wink to Savatage.  Nice arrangement.

Only crit is the bass kind of gets lost in the mix... sounds good around 5:00 when it's doing that walking part, but the rest of the time it's hard to hear it clearly.

    Great collab guys!!

Jon, It's good to hear from you and the CHB again...
My congratulations on another masterful production, and collection of performances...
I'm surprised that it sounds so good for nearly 10 minutes of music compressed into a 10M file...
What bitrate did you settle on?

I hope you'll come back more often now that the air has been cleared somewhat... at least temporarily...

I'd have been back more often but these guys keep me chained up all the time so I don't get any writing done.  Seriously I've got some stuff in the pipe.
