I tried to purchase the upgrade to CA-2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier and get:-

"There was an error while attempting to save your order!

  • Credit Card Not Approved. "
This error was present 12 hours ago, see posts:-

    When will it be fixed?.

Being this is a user forum, us users of Sonar have no clue to when it will be fixed. We do not work for them.

I suggest you call them, if you want the right answer

We investigated and found there is no service disruption between our web store and our CC payment gateway. Our web store is completing orders and taking payments quickly & smoothly. If you have sufficient funds available on the card then there's some other problem.

We would like to help. Can you reply via email to our Customer service team or PM? We'd like to know:
    • In which of our three eStores were you shopping?
    • What's your eStore username & email address? Include your Forum name too so we can correlate.
    • What type of CC are you using? (MC, Visa, Amex)
    • Also, what's the issuing bank? (examples: Barclays, Citibank)
Please remember we DON'T want you to send your CC number via email or forum PM.

If you're anxious to buy today, I read one report of a shopper who switched and paid successfully via PayPal.

Er no, its not fixed. Here is the error message :

There was an error while attempting to save your order!

    Credit Card Not Approved.

It won't accept a European (French) Amex nor a Visa. I do NOT want to invest in Paypal, so what to do ? There is nothing wrong with the cards.

    Cheers,
    Jerry

Edit : also impossible to send you a PM with the details required - 500 Error.

    This is ridiculous.

2nd Edit : can't use the e-mail Adam gave for the Store because it needs a Store sales number, which you don't get unless you've closed the order. Double ridiculous for a 20 € order. C'mon Cake, get the act together for European customers.

3rd and Final Edit : tried to PM you AGAIN :

HTTP Error 500 - Internal Server Error
    ASPPlayground.NET Forum Software

This is the first time I have had a problem using a credit card at the Cakewalk Store. Used my card for another internet purchase (straight after trying my CakeWalk Store purchase), no problem.

I had a similar problem a few days ago using a Mastercard which was 'not authorised'.
The same card has been accepted without problems on several sites in different countries over the last 2 years that the card has been valid (and it's still valid).
I am fortunate to have a Paypal account which worked okay so I didn't report the problem.  But, guess what?  The funding source for Paypal is the same credit card that the e-store refused!?
Despite Adams comment above, the system is either broken or not working as it should.

I received several PMs from you. I saw an error 500 too. I'll ask our web experts why that is. I think its because we're due to update our forum software so it works with modern browsers. I'll confirm.

We're looking to see if there's any helpful info associated with your CC payment attempt. Normally there's no option but to wait and pay via telephone on Monday, or use a different payment method. But we'll see what we can do over the weekend. Thanks again for the information.

The only way I could pay for the module was via Paypal.

None of my (valid) cards would work.

New forum software? That'll be good (hopefully)

Same here.  I've emailed support, but I'm not deserate for it so will just leave it.

I've never had a site refuse my mony before.  Only Cakewalk could manage this.  A software company that uses outdated forum software, can't send emails with a store that won't accept credit cards..

    Hello Aries,

Thank you for your assistance in resolving this payment problem, and your flexibility. I'm happy we could work out the transaction. Without your info we'd be at a dead end with no test case. While it isn't yet solved, I am hopeful. Our CSRs will contact you during the week as we discussed offline.

I've had perfectly legitimate CC purchases fail in the past (though not on the Cakewalk store). It was very frustrating because I knew there were no problems with the card (i.e balance, payments pending etc).

What I discovered in all cases was my CC issuer would not allow me to make foreign purchases (i.e. anything that had a currency conversion involved). When I switched to a different card the transaction went smoothly.

Sorry, I left off the smiley.  Hardly ludicrous, though.  The fact that a site has never refused my money before is not ludicrous, but fact. The statement that only Cake could do this was meant to be light hearted.  Sorry to cause upset.  The whole post was meant to be silly.  The fact that the forum  software mangled my post was just the icing on the cake.   Sorry again if I offended you.

@miguelito - Yes, that's true.  In this case it's the same card I use to buy stuff from Cake all the time.  My bank always query foreign purchases (thank goodness) unless it is from a known source, and boy, do they know Cakewalk by now.

It appears there is some issue at the moment that Cake are trying to resolve.

Yes, this isn't the only site I've had problems with in the past, and it's the first time ever with Cakewalk, so the "only Cakewalk could manage this" comment is a bit disingenuous to say the least

Con Edison in New York still won't accept my perfectly valid card online to pay my electricity bill. I have to pay with some kind of "online check" nonsense. They refuse to even look into it and say they have no idea what the problem is. Mind you this is the same company that blew their own transformers during the hurricane by not bothering to shut them down as their plant flooded. I don't think Cakewalk has botched anything to that extent yet.

    Hello,

Cakewalk can't deliver the help you need in our user forum. If you've tried several times without success, you'll need to call Cakewalk Customer Service in order to pay with that particular credit card. Using a different card, or PayPal are viable alternatives for some.

Cakewalk CS is available by phone between 1 PM - 6 PM Eastern Time Monday through Friday 1-888-CAKEWALK, international callers use +1 617.423.9004

Problems like you describe are very rare, but they do occur. They're usually related to a communication issue between our gateway and your issuing bank. The 'declined' message usually indicates a specific condition test is failing. Aside from the obvious reasons, there are many obscure reasons that have popped up over the years. Examples:
    * Some banks deny purchases when currency conversion is required.
    * Some banks demand you enter your billing address exactly as it's found on your billing statement.
    * For various reasons many folks try to shop in our USD eStore and pay with credit cards with EU billing addresses. Some banks decline these transaction.

If we could flick a switch and get your order through, we would do it. But instead you'll need to call Cakewalk Customer Service.

Re:The Cakewalk Store is not accepting Credit Cards at the moment, when will it be fixed? 2013/01/29 18:24:10 (permalink)
    Adam Burch [Cakewalk
    ]

    Thanks for responding, Adam.

I used the same card, on the same site, that I have used to purchase many things from Cakewalk before, filling out the same info as I usually do, so this appears to be a new development.

I have also not seen this complaint from other users on here as much as I did with the CA2A purchase.

Being charged for having to make an overseas call to make a fifteen pound purchase seems a little odd.
Never mind, I opened a paypal account and bought it anyway, in case this issue is not resolved in the near future and more  goodies appear.

    Adam:

My VISA card (UK bank issued) that was refused is one I've used several times to purchase from Cakewalk's UK store. The attempted purchase was made from my usual computer, in the UK from Cake's UK store. I then tried a different UK issued card (Mastercard, from a different card issuer). That attempted transaction also failed with the same error.

So I tried a third card (Mastercard again) from yet another different issuer. Also failed.

That's a VISA debit, a Mastercard credit and Mastercard pre-paid cards from three different issuers all refused. I then tried an alternative computer which connects through an entirely different ISP (my wife's work issued laptop which connects to the net through a different ISP and even a different phone line). That attempted card transaction also failed.

In the end I used Paypal which worked fine. As did a couple of other trans-Atlantic transactions made using the cards that failed with the Cake store.

Something somewhere seems badly broken at your end :-(

I'm in total agreement with this.

Something has gone bang inside the Cakewalk online store and it needs to be fixed if revenue streams are to be maintained

There is something strange about the payment system.

If I  start with no goods on order and then order the CA-2A Upgrade then the next stage is place order, not ship& pay. If I then place the order it returns:-

"There was an error while attempting to save your order!

      Credit Card Not Approved. "
When no credit card information is present.

Perhaps the payment software has been corrupted?.

Who is being affected all UK?, all Europe?, all US?, all Other customers?.

It is clear its not a credit card problem at the customers end.
