The Christmas Song Chords??
Every year I dust off my Christmas song book. I play them a few times at the Care Home where I work and we always have this Sing a long at a friend house with a big group of us local musicians. Our Song books are a mess and as you all know there are a few songs that have Jazz , big band roots that have more than what Frosty the snowman uses...
Have you ever tried to pick chords out of a Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby arrangement? It's all melody and even the bass player sounds like they are on drugs. Yes I'm tlking about the Crooners Christmas songs.
The internet is a cr@p shoot and 90% of what's on there is people just copying the same version and re posting it complete with wrong chords. This is very obvious with the Christmas Song. I dare you to open any version found on line and try and sing along as you play the chords. There's a wonderful Utube with a very good player doing it the original Mel Torme version but it's in C# and way to many chords. What we need is a solid support for the melody using basic chords people can follow after a few cups of cheer :)
The verse I think I have nailed down with the common agreement being C Dm Em G etc
But it fall apart in the bridge where there are conflicting chords
Most start with the Gm but from there it's all over the map.
So does anyone here have a "dummied" down version of this song?
This is the best version I found so far
http://www.e-chords.com/chords/neil-diamond/the-christmas-song And this one seems good to but I'll have to transpose down 1/2 step to C. I still can seems to sing my way through the bridge. :0
