Thanks for that, Lar.  Being a DAW slut (Owning multiple DAWs while being the master of none), I always felt rather guilty and a bit dirty... but now I can walk down the street and feel some pride that I have zero self-control when buying audio software.

In my own own sad, pathetic way, I've given myself some protection in these troubled DAW times.  Damn, I'm good.

SonarPlat/CWbBL, Win 10 Pro, i7 2600K, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, 16GB DDR3, Radeon HD5450, TC Electronic Impact Twin, Kawai MP11 Piano, Event ALP Monitors, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Too Many Plugins, My lucky hat.

Myself likewise Jon.  I have owned probably EVERY DAW at one point in time or
another.  I learn them just for this reason.  Companies come and go.  Being able
to "interchange" is key IMO.

Same with wives.

OK, Edith, I’m off.

Maybe it's just me, but i didn't learn any critical lesson. I think it goes without saying that any software product may suddenly stop being made. We have seen this happen many times. Unless cakewalk stopped working the same day as announcement, this feels similar to other products i have experienced this with. I still have an emu 404 that i loved but support went belly up on years ago. I managed to use it for years well after it stopped being supported and could probably still find a way. I used vc-64 up until last year despite lack of updates or care by cakewalk . I have used my version 6 of acid pro despite any real update or support for 10 years. If t suddenly stos working, i got more than what i expected. I DO use other DAWs out of work necessity, but I would be fine for long time to come with just sonar.

This part i agree with wholeheartedly. I don't see the need to rush at all
