The Descent - downbeat house track

Hi everyone

I've just made a new track. It's supposed to be a sort of downbeat electro/house track, but I really don't have any experience in the genre at all. Anyway, it's very much a first draft, but I would really appreciate any feedback good or bad about the track.

Thank you for listening

Well, a few years ago, this would have been OK as it was. Something to play on Groove Salad. But today, well, today we have Skrillex. Techno has gone to a much harder place, even slowed down electro/house. Also, it pains me to say it, but you need a strong hook, and it should come in earlier. But, that is just sorta what I want to hear out of electronica these days, so take it with a grain of salt.

I don't know much about the style, but a minute intro on a three minute song seems a little long.  Once the 2nd element is introduced it gets interesting.  Or that is how I found the song.

@foxwolfen. I was worried that someone would mention Srillex etc. To be honest I really can't stand that kind of music. My track is more of a heavy antidote to the dubstep, laser/wobble bass sound. It's just a shame that as you have pointed out, it's just too old fashioned now. Still, with this particular genre I would definitely rather not move with the times. @AT, thanks for your feedback also. I think I might rearrange the first half of the track to solve the issue of the intro length.

But I should say again thank you both very much for your comments, because I don't want to sound bitter or anything. To be honest I was not expecting this track to go down well at all :)

Since I don't have the listening experience in this genre that others have I can only listen to it on it's own merit. I really liked the discordant thing going on at 1:30. The mix is ok here on my system. For straight up getting on the floor and moving that thang this is good stuff!

Hey everyone, just to say that I've updated the original link, and hopefully the track is now much improved. The intro is now shorter and the mix is a bit more heavy overall which hopefully conveys the atmosphere of the track a little bit better.
