The Drums

Hi

OK followed the great new videos and I have my drum tracks down and mixed.  I now want to add bass track/s. I opened Dimension and found a bass that sounds good but when I enter the notes using my midi keyboard controller the individual drum parts are sounding.i.e. hit hat kick drum etc??  How do I stop this from happening.

Help really is appreciated.

Most likely you have "What you hear" setting on. It can be called "Stereo Mix" , too, depending on your soundcard brand.

PS. It's a good practise to give you PC and soundcard  specs when you ask something. Also it's often necessary to know which version of SONAR you're using.

SORRY...re-reading your post I think it's a midi-channel setting. Each instrument requires a midi channel of it's own.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

You have input echo on both tracks. You just need it on the track you are working on. There are a number of options in how you can set up ie you can have this done automatically or to suit you. You don't have to alter midi channels if you are using different VSTs. I have it so I have to switch it on for each track I'm working on. I don't want it automatic for reasons I won't be explaining here.

You were right input echo was on both tracks.

Many thanks for pointing that out

Yep. I thought the OP was using Dimension for both drums and bass, as that was the only instrument he named.
