"The Fall"

Seem to have a few songs ready to rock of late.

This is one that has been lying around for quite a while, and got a chance to try and nail over the past few weeks.

Its a pop track with a country feel and tell of a man, well who, basically goes to the same place, at the same time every year ;-)

All honest replies all welcome.

The Fall

Cian, this is about as "radio ready" as any song I've heard here, lately.  It's a beautiful song, and very well performed, arranged, and mixed.  The vocal is super, and if my memory is correct, a different style that what I've  heard from you in the past.  This is a good way to start the day.  Bravo!

    All the best,

Really well done Cian, this grabbed me from the start, although it's not a genre I like particularly. Hope you won't be insulted by this, but I could imagine someone like Ronan Keating covering this.

One thing I didn't like was that stereo 'hit' in the first verse (what is that, handclap?) it was quite distracting. Apart from that, great production, really fine.

Best vocal performance I think I have heard from you. BGvox are well-produced. Very melancholy yet upbeat tune.

I heard that "Thousand Miles" tune by Vanessa Carlton quite a bit in this.

The piano is a bit thin. Any filters you put on it should be taken off when it is playing by itself.

Also, when you hit the big notes you gotta back off the mike some more.

All in all, simply splendid song.

    Thanks for comments.

Lynn, glad you liked but even more chuffed you labelled it close to "radio ready" since I have been falling short with my last number of tracks Ive done on my own.

James, no insult taken I write nearly all songs for the pop market, ronan is that and can sing so simple as (albeit not a showstopper!). Yes that is a handclap, I like it there to keep the beat, but it maybe a bit wide and sharp you listen on headphones?

Thanks Jim, your a hard enough man to keep pleased. I understand where the thousand miles familiarity is dropping in, more to do with the descending piano riffs and the odd string run. Got the filter thing, have it eq'd in general just was a too lazy to automate it during the solo sections.

    Any other comments are welcome.

I like this a lot. It reminds me of England Dan and John Ford Coley a bit.

    Very well done!

Guitarpima, lpmike and paulo, thanks much for your comments folks. (england dan and john ford coley are two hip lookin men!)

Should be a little more body in the piano on solo sections.

    Hi, Cian,

This is a fantastic, really well written pop song, with spectacular vocals, great instrumental performances, and a pro sounding mix!

With this type of high quality production, I can easily imagine hearing this on a local radio station.

Top notch stuff, Cian, well done, my friend!

Thanks all for you kind comments guys, it has certainly been the most popular of my recent tunes.

Man, its hard though ya know to create a true winner. I often wonder has there every been anyone that has actually written, arranged, performed and produced a chart topping hit. I somehow dont think so??

Sublime intro to this superb song. I really loved this. Vocals to die for, genius lyrics and all round great musicianship.

It might be hard to create a winner, but you seemed to have pulled it off.
    Well done.

This is "Pro" all the way through to my ears. A really well crafted, arranged and performed pop song. This could be done Country, Pop or RnB. Really nice work.
