Eerie and provocative.  This sounds more like part of a soundtrack that an individual song, but it's cool anyway.  The mix is subtle and doesn't get in the way.  Nicely done, Wookie.

I agree that it does sound like a soundtrack..which is not a bad thing.Very haunting without being creepy if that makes sense.

They could have used this in the new Noah movie if you would have it ready! Sounds great to my ears and I agree it sounds like a good candidate for a soundtrack.

Fallout sux if it's coming after a nuclear event? However, in this case, it wasn't that bad... I couldn't really hear the vocals because they were so heavily processed. Also that high percussive thing "bang, bang, bang..." I may lower it a tiny bit, however the more I listened, the better it seemed to sit.

I'm looking for little creatures with which to breed, after the rain... Hell, any afternoon is fine? Rain or shine.  "The" bomb is not the problem? It's "The bombs..." And the winter which follows.

I give it a C. You can do better.

    Hello my furry friend!
I really like this!  I would like to have heard less reverb/treatment on the vocals during the "talking" part - it makes it muddy and difficult to understand.  I like the heavy processing during the singing parts, but the talking parts are too muddy.

    John,

Very cool song.  Love the groove.    Your friend's voice sounds vaguely familiar, can't quite place who I think he sounds like but maybe I am thinking Pete Townsend'ish (Eminence Front).  Very good song, really like it.

    what a cool slinky groove

kinda like if you married genesis with floyd

agree with the comments on the vox...
i like the IDEA of the effects, and understand the desired end results..but this particular mix isn't working as is.

it's just an FX choice on the mix....

possibly having a dry track mixed underneath the effected track,
or put the  dry track centered, and throw the effects hard left and right, to allow clarity on the vocal.

    it's a cool tune

    Hi Wookster,
I do like the movement on this piece. Overall I think it works. Just need to clear the vox as mentioned up there above me. I feel that the vox sound a trifle too small and narrow. Wizard synth patterns though.
I also like Robbie grading the efforts :)

As the vocalist and lyricist on After the Rain, I would like to thank everyone for their comments. The problem Wookiee has is that I can't sing and so he has to conjure up a lot of electronic wizardry to make my vocals presentable. We, Wookiee and I, have recorded a fair number of tracks (some can be found on reverbnation and soundcloud) and as each song is different he has a new challenge on the vocals front. Overall he does brilliantly and I know he takes into account what you guys say so between you all and Wookiee I say again, thanks for the comments as they continue to make us better and push us (mainly Wookiee) onwards.

I personally love this and I'm VERY picky when it comes to anything in a Pink Floyd type style. The song itself is something could fit into Sons of Anarchy or some other tragedy type show while showing their world crash around them.

I like the effects on the vocals, my only complaint is that I want them sitting a little more in center up front. If you handed me this track what I would do is throw PSP vintage warmer 2 on the vocals, center it more, then compress it with the Sonitus fx Compressor set to a low setting.

Ha, I think Rob (Batsbrew) nailed it.  I was thinking Floyd but heard much more.  Genesis fits in.  I REALLY like this tune.  When that "after the rain" comes in it is so cool.  Loved it, John!

This is nice! Very Pink Floyd with Waters. I like it! Though, I would prefer a more sustaining bass line to give a bit more weight (purely subjective).

That's exactly what I was gonna say! Man, sometimes when you listen to music that isn't meant to be commercial or for the radio, is what I mean by that, you hear some really interesting stuff. I love the fact that you can create anything and engage the creativity of the mind.
