The Hub
http://soundcloud.com/aaudiomystiks/the-hub A sonic arts composition for my Honours project. Although it sounds like music and indeed is music, the composite parts i.e. the bass have all been designed from stereo recordings that I made of various events at Uni O Week in around the main library and enrolment area...Called The Hub. The bass synthesizer is actually a slither of a bass sample from a jazz performance fed into a granular synth. The kick/snare is again a recording of the another jazz band. The strings heard in the first section is one note from a string trio and manipulated via VVocal to sound like a melodic line and the lead line in the end section is a slither of a trumpet again the jazz band and fed into a granular synth. The rest of the track is gathered from the other various recordings I did over O Week.

Ben, you keep pushing the boundaries of experimental music to new places. Your talent for making music out of ordinary sounds never ceases to amaze me. Keep up the good work because I enjoyed this very much. It might not be what I listen to when I practice yoga, but I'm sure I'd listen to this if I was on the run.

Thanks guys, I'm actually going to do another mix, the bass is a little low when I listen to it on the Ipad and I'm going to add some more crowd sounds in the final solo section. But thanks as always. Ben

See your still pushing the envelope to their limits Ben. This one is quite interesting and has a language of its' own. Crowd control sounds about normal in this, so I wouldn't add to much, but then this piece isn't about me, it's about you. Very interesting piece and the mix is good. Hope you score well for your Honours project. Peace and Blessings, John

Hi John there are no limits only the ones you make!! I'm glad you noticed the language that's the point of the track. Its all to do with soundscapes and sound maps. Man my brain it hurts I've been cramming so much **** in there. For my next trick I'm going to try and design an acousmatic speaker in a cheap guitar, pipe some pastoral electro-acoustic music through it, then blow or smash it up. Which is auto destructive art, then finally play some improv guitar over the feedback and sound. This is for my minor project Lol. Ben

Well, that sounds like an exciting adventure for a minor project. You should video the guitar when you blow it up, that might turn out to be exciting!! Have fun!! Peace and Blessings, John
