The JB-01

will be the name of my first pup if I ever manage
to build one.
It will be named for Jon as he was the first to ask me
for one. I hope it's something I can do.
I've ordered the wire and have stripped pups to learn on
before I order parts to build yours Jon.

The reason I'm posting is not only for you Jon but
for others that have single coil pickups.

Some may already know but....here is something that is
easy to do and un-do if you don't like it.

Get a small piece of .047 ( 18 gauge) steel and cut it to
cover the magnets but stay away from the leads.
Hot glue it to the pup.

What it will do is raise the magnetic field. I think some
call the elevating. You probably know that some single coils
already have a metal bottom.

What's good is if you don't like the crank it adds, remove the plate.

Something I thought you may enjoy doing Jon while you wait.

    Cool.

I'll do you a favour though I wont ever associate my playing skill with your pickups...

I may well try that mod out meantime. Sounds a good way of getting some variation for a little effort.

    Thanks.

I just caught some of the enthusiasm you were transmitting putting the new machine together and saw a way of adding some homespun charm to my character less import guitar.  Plus you'll get the priviledge of negotiating fees with the Bouy.

I can't say fairer than that...

Seymour Duncan's not going to get all over you for calling it that are they?

(Since they also have a JB pickup - I used to have one in one of my Les Pauls.)

Not Seymour. He's probably one of the coolest on the planet and besides...
he's probably wondering if I'm going to get all up and over...'cause he
doesn't even know Jon Buoy. :)

JB will outshine me as a bass player. And he'll do it on a guitar no less.
