The Joy of where did my new Waves plugin go
Got Mushroom Pusher, installed, activated, where the hell is it? One thing for having more than one Daw they will at least show up in one. It's times like these where the rocket science activation and installation is where I'm blinded by Waves deals that make me forget the crapshoot that is usually involved in Waves. I'm still a fan of individual installers. For some reason they work. I would bet the #1 developer of where did my new plugin go is Waves.

I keep my licenses on a USB flash drive...so after doing the "easy install and activation", which installs the license to your computer, I have to go to "manage licenses" and move it to my flash drive. Then, of course, Sonar has to rescan the waveshell.

i never use the easy install and activate thingy. i always just manage licenses, flick the license to my usb flash drive, then install, select plug to be installed, install, fire up daw, it scans and away i go

I remember demoing Mushroom Pusher and having trouble finding it because the actual plugin in SONAR was called something odd, so it didn't show on searches for expected common words.

The actual plug in is C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V9\vitamin.bundle But that is NOT what you scan in SOANR (or any other PC based DAW). You should scan the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\WaveShells V9" path Because that is where either WaveShell-VST 9.6.dll or WaveShell-VST 9.6_x64.dll are located. It's a little different than what you would expect, but it works 100% of the time for me. Now if you have the VST3 installed then the shell is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3" or "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3"

I think the actual plugin "name" is IMPusher might want to search for that in the plugin browser.

For a few of the demo things I tried from Waves I had to let Sonar "Rescan" plugin folders. Then they all showed up. But most of the time Waves plugs flawlessly.

Thanks for the reminder. There are a bunch of Waves folders but THAT is the one. Close is not good enough.

Me too. It's a bit of a pain. makes me wonder why they don't let you go straight to the flash to start with.

I don't know what's wrong with waves plugins, but I bought Waves Electric Piano 200 and Musicians 2 for 9 usd . All installation went very well with Waves Center, but I can't find any of new plugins with Sonar Platinum or either Reaper, only old plugins works like trueverb etc.

I don't keep them on sticks anymore. You don't even have to do that with iLok anymore and most iLok based plugins allow two machines. Waves on the other hand still has it's annoyances. IK, Melda, D16, any other developer not named Waves ....rarely has the "can't find my plugin" issue. I have to machines and when Waves goes on sale I buy licenses for the other machine. Yep they are a bargain but comes with hassles.

Probably a dumb suggestion, but did you do a VST scan?

IMO people that have "problems" installing/locating Waves plugs may have not spent the time to thoroughly understand the Waves paradigm. Mostly it seems these are the people who expect the Waves paradigm to match other plug vendors' install paradigms. It doesn't and b!tch!ing about it won't change it. If you can, call Waves support and have them walk you through the process. They will even use Team Viewer if you allow them and you can see first hand how to do it.

IIRC when I initially installed it, in Sonar IMPusher was automatically placed within the Mastering subsection (in my setup, right next to Ozone 7 etc..). IMPusher is a very cool fx plugin......easy to get good results on practically any instrument in the mixing stage (haven't used it in mastering).
