The MP3 encoder must be unlocked before use

I'm getting an error when I try to mixdown a track to mp3 it pops up.  I bought and installed the MP3 encoder.  What else could be wrong? 
 
 
 

Write Cakewalk from the support section and give them the information about your purchase, they will handle it.  They added a link in my account section where I could download the correct version to unlock the MP3 after I purchased Sonar Platinum.   I previously purchased The MP3 encoder and activation for Sonar X3, but I wasn't able to use that version to unlock the MP3 capabilities with Sonar Platinum, so they took care of it for me.

Actually, you might have saved a bit of trouble by installing the LAME mp3 encoder (it's free) and using it with an audio editor such as Audacity (also free). I like to export my audio o Audacity once it's been mixed down, and then I use Audacity for any final trimming, fadeouts or fade-ins, etc. I also use a Hard Limiter there which keeps it from clipping if it was too hot when exported. Finally, I export the .wav as an mp3 using Lame, (it's seamless once you get the encoder), and get a nice high quality 320 mp3 to import into iTunes, etc. for playback. Since you already bought the CW encoder, hopefully you get it straightened out, and I guess it would be more convenient. But I like "free" stuff if it works, and this stuff works just fine. I've also heard that soon the mp3 encoding patent will expire, and either CW can offer the encoder for free, or it will be ubiquitous and easily integrated into Sonar as a utility. Not sure how soon that is happening, but maybe this year or next.
