The Man You're Not Supposed To Know
I feel everyone has a "man (or woman) they're not supposed to know" in their life. This MUST be true in the entertainment, pro sports, financial, law enforcement... even drug dealers' industry. In my case it was a racing motorcycle mechanic who was actually "hidden" from me. So, I gladly dedicate this song to YOU. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10137992 I know the singing ain't perfect, as the backing tracks took months and singing less than one day, but I am not a real "singer" gosh darn it and I wanted to finish this song once and for all. Enjoy! Kiki

Well I think it's getting to the "source" of something in order to improve or advance. In some industries it's not "what" you know, it's "who" you know. I finally met "the man (mechanic) I wasn't supposed to know" and I magically started winning road races! Kiki

Hey man, cool tune. The only thing I can recommend production wise is that vocal level or presence should be up a little. I'm finding it hard to hear a lot of the words because of the clicking and other percussion that seems to cloud over the vocal. Compositionally I quite like it, not generally my thing but I enjoyed it. Quite of a minimalist arrangement of what the Beatles might be doing if they were still around. Oh, and there is nothing wrong with your voice at all man.

LOL. When you're ready he will come. You got a 60's British pop sound goin' on. I also agree the vocals are at times obscured. You gotta look at panning and pull back some of the reverb/FX to get them more upfront in the mix.

Adji- THANK YOU! Yes I was trying to go simple in the beginning, but it's so damned hard with all these plug ins, how can you hold back?? ha ah! OK I will calm down the percussion AND dry up and boot vox.

You gotta look at panning and pull back some of the reverb/FX to get them more upfront in the mix. When you say panning, you mean more more defined stereo vocal placement? (At the last chorus of the song there are hidden harmonies that are panned hard L/R.) You mean the main vox on the choruses? AND, yes I will pull soften up the percussion AND bring up and dry up the vox. Yes I was sort of going for that "Chad and Jeremy" or "Peter and Gordon" sound... I guess. BTW I am local too! (Anaheim Hills) Kiki I really just meant to double check where everything was in stereo field. It's probably just the reverb that is masking the vocals a little. It is a cool song and worth the time and effort to polish. I'm actually living in Northridge at the moment. But it's too damn windy here!! I'm thinking of moving back down to Burbank where it's a little more mellow when the Santa Anna's are blowing. Here it just get's psychotic for days on end... Chicago ain't got jack on Northridge/Granada hills!! :-)

Cool tune.... I like it. It sounded good to me but I also have speakers about 12" apart... so if it's panned extreme, I would not know it.... Like the telephone voice in there..... On panning, I generally keep most stuff centered, with a max spread of 50% on certain things. I have been listening to the Beatles Remastered (one of my christmas gifts) and they used some extreme panning and it is really hard to enjoy. Lead vox bass and drums up the center.... piano, guitars other stuff, off center a bit 20% or so but balance it out.... That's my concept of panning. Twin guitars at times will go wide. All that aside...I like the song.

sounds cool to me. vocals are good, backing track too. your voice is very good, what took you so long?! i like the percussion/bass, that works well, and the key changes give an extra dimension. in fact this grows as it goes along into something very good indeed.

Zuma- Thank you for the advice! In fact, I am getting ready to move in February to West SFV or over Conejo Pass in to Camarillo/Ventura area (for my job.) Not as windy ha ha! Guitarhacker- Thank you... you are correct. I got lazy and should know better. I tried to finish it so quickly I just overlooked this stuff! Not a smart thing for me to do, and then post it in this forum! mgh- Thank you! Good Luck to your Steelers this weekend too! (That's coming from a Raider fan BTW!)

Not read any other comments so apologies for any redundant comments. The song is really good and your voice sounds good too and sounds well recorded, but it's made hard to listen to by the percussion which needs to be pushed back some to my ears. Just my opinion as a listener.

I like it. I enjoyed the rhythm and the vocals as well. I liked all the little panned addons and the fact you were not afraid to experiment with varying eqs on your mix.

I love the tune and the arrangement and playing and all. I like the part at (and after) 1:50. Lots of cool things thrown in here and there to keep ones' attention. And quit saying you're not a real singer. If I ever get this good I'll start singing some of my songs.
